Nice instrumental rendition of the song (unnecessary keys apart), but the singing on the chorus was atrocious. I can’t wait to read what @Ascendingthethrone thinks about it!
Turns out you really can't play heavy metal with synthesizers!

e: Jesus Christ you weren't kidding about the chorus. The funny thing is, the verses are so low I'm not even sure they could lower the key without causing issues on the other end.

Just watched the Flash of the Blade video. That fucking crowd was beyond pathetic
I've heard Bruce requests no air conditioning at shows, but we are talking the middle of a heat wave in California, with everyone packed inside a venue that felt like it was 150 degrees, it was insanely hot people were literally soaking wet aha.

Not surprisingly no one had any energy to do anything lol

Is the first show but the tower darkside and book of thel in the same show and at the end of it was a bit hard form him nowadays. I think he will play 2 of those 3 songs changing them
Mixing up the set between tours/tour legs is good. After all, that's what we'd like Maiden to do.
That’s the price to pay for having a rotating setlist when you play a short set.
Dropping some of your best songs and keeping a cover and a drum solo is a bit odd though.
All of that. Sometimes rotating can be harsh (Aquarius with Book most likely), especially with 1 instrumental cover in the set, although Bruce and the band need it, but it's also good for us. The set is 2-3 songs shorter. Odd. For rotating, he said that with 7 albums he still has a lot of songs to choose from for the next tour, so. The Maiden song is his, I understand playing it even now, but it should be a bonus. Btw, having 2 guitars and keys help for the busy parts of the Powerslave album. The first night last year was also shorter, so let's wait and see.
Is it just me, or does the final song of the set feel a bit anticlimactic? The Starchildren doesn’t strike me as the strongest closer. Something like The Tower or Road to Hell would’ve been a much better fit.
Starchildren is such an underwhelming closer. The Tower is perfect, or Road. Just like Accident as an opener!
Navigate and The Tower should absolutely be fixed in the setlist.
Dropping Darkside (for now) was a smart decision IMO because of the vocal struggles on it last year.
Agreed. Maybe Navigate was dropped because of Shadow? Similar vibe in a way?
That was never a rule, it's just that Alexander was bit of a special case.
Maybe only for songs Maiden won't do live.
I fucking love the fact that this new era of Bruce doing solo material live est. 2024 came with The Alchemist. I certainly expected Bruce to return with his solo material at some point anyway, but I didn't dare to dream that they'd live debut The Alchemist in 2024, haha! One of the set highlights for me. The ending is such a standout moment. One of the most powerful things Bruce has ever recorded his voice on and it goes down very well live too.
Shadow of the Gods is massive - as expected. Nice to Gods of War back too. Not my favourite, but since Aquarius is (understandably) dropped, although it might very well appear in the set in the following gigs, it gives some "epic weight" to the end of the show as well.
Well said. I also like he has other instruments live for more fun. It feels unique in a way. His solo stuff deserve it big time. Metal with synths is possible, more or less, ha! All TMP songs sound better live.

BTW this isn't particularly uncommon in the metal scene since having a draft on you while you're sweating your ass off is not a good idea. Metallica is another such example.

Back in 2003, on the Dance of Death tour in Madrid, Bruce was really stroppy during the gig, complaining about draughts and air conditioning. Whilst he was acting a bit like a diva, he had a very valid reason to complain about this (they had to cancel some gigs shortly after that one when Bruce got sick). I just wished it hadn’t affected the live show we experienced!

Bruce said here that while he was on tour with Maiden, the band wrote and send him ideas for the new album, like with TOS. The demos are an hour long and plus. He needs to release solo albums because he's creative and really feels it. He has to catch up.

He said he hopes his solo tour won't be the same every night. And that his wife suggested to him to play the rare Maiden song.

No way is he giving up that sweet stadium money. He learnt last time how hard it is to play tiny venues. He and Adrian have been eating humble pie for the last 26 years and letting Steve call the shots because it’s financial suicide not to.
True that!!! So what I meant was if maiden retire, this guy will go on and on.
