Bruce Dickinson

I'm sure it feels flattering for Roy that you need two replacement guitarists for him. I have to say though, I'm conflicted. On one hand, it's good that they're using this opportunity to pull their heads out of their asses and tour with two guitarists, but it's a damn shame Roy doesn't get to tour with Bruce again considering how long it's been.

Not to mention, it's mostly his music that Bruce sings over. Feels like an extra kick in the balls to not even be able to get that live recognition for that.

Roy Z can't go on tour due to personal reasons, two guitarists replace him

Surprising turn of events
I'm not sure I understand that. "...personal commitments," Dickinson explains. "He will remain in LA to work on some re-mixing and re-mastering of the catalogue....
You don't suddenly find out that you're obliged to work on and deliver a different product.

But in my insignificant evaluation, to have two guitarists in the band is a good decision.

I am pretty sure that’s not the implication. Probably another reason he needs to stay in LA, but will spend the time doing studio work while he’s there.

Really bizarre.

I can think of two possibilities:
1: Roy Z’s touring rate is high, they can pay two guitarists each half of what Roy Z would have made.

2: Roy insisted on being the only guitarist for the tour.

My bet is that it will be like Judas Priest with Sneap in the band - one guy plays the majority of the leads and the other mostly holds down rhythm. I doubt this means harmonies or solo trade offs especially if Mystheria has already been working on adapting keys parts.

It's really sad (and odd) that Roy won't play live on this tour. Especially after so long. Him and Bruce bring the magic together, the tour was special because of him too. Hopefully next year (or for future tours) he will be available.

It's nice though that Bruce will have 2 guitarists live and they will be able to play every song. I don't know them. The setlist will probably change now, hence the warm-up show. Curious if Mistheria will join in for some harmonies to bring a different feel.

Thanks for sharing this sad news.

Well, tbh, I would have prefered to have Adrian Smith and Janick Gers, instead. :ninja:

Probably these atmos remixes and writing more music for the next record?
The reason must be different, he will just use the time for remixes and writing. I don't think there is a problem between him and Bruce. The only one I can think of is that Bruce realized that with 1 guitar and keys he won't be able to do a proper justice to his catalog live (although he said he wanted a different approach and heavy metal with 1 guitar), or because of some songs, and Roy didn't accept that. But Bruce said he is really sad that Roy won't be able to play on the tour on this press release. Also, Roy mentored the guitarist Chris (who played on Rain On The Graves). It's really odd. Roy was really excited about this tour. Maybe he has a lot of studio work? The warm-up show will be like a rehearsal, according to Bruce.

Fact: he only fully toured with Bruce for AOB.

Btw, I think I remember (was it an old) interview in which Roy said he enjoys the creative and writing process the most, not touring. So there's that.

Bruce: ''Sadly, and with regret, guitarist and producer Roy Z will no longer join the band on tour due to some personal commitments. He will remain in LA to work on some re-mixing and re-mastering of the catalogue. We all know the show must go on though and this project is too important to everyone to not be the very best it can be. I’m gutted about Roy because he assembled most of the album and touring band, introducing Mistheria & Dave Moreno to the project and mentoring guitarist Chris Declerq. I’m so excited about what both Philip and Chris will bring on stage together and now my only ambition is to grab a little piece of the audiences’ hearts every night.''

Could it just be as simple as Roy Z has other stuff to do (Doctors appointments, work, family plans) and can't practically give it all up for 3 months of touring?

Perhaps he was enthusiastic about doing the tour initially but it ended up turning into a several month long tour and now that it's come around he just doesn't fancy it?

Roy hasn't toured a good few times with Bruce, I don't want to throw around allegations, but if there's any truth to those allegations you could see it being an obstacle to touring certain places

And now they suddenly find all this out? Am I supposed to believe that a lot of semi-professional bands are more organized than one Bruce Dickinson and Roy Z?
