Bruce Dickinson

Halford?? Why?? There goes that organic, classic Bruce solo album feel.
Why do you think it would take away any organic or classic feel?

Shadow Of The Gods was supposed to be a 'Three Tremors' song. I wonder if Geoff Tate is in it too but looks like he won't be.

Looking at the song descriptions I'm really excited! :shred:

It is much softer than the listener expected...

Not a huge Halford fan honestly. Used to like his voice once upon a time but not anymore. Just feel Bruce’s music isn’t suited for Halfords voice.

A Tyranny of Souls has a Halford part and that song is great in my opinion. I also love the different styles Bruce does on that song.
It’s one of my favorite songs and I’m glad to an extent that Halford & Tate weren’t a part of it. That’s a Bruce song, sang best by Bruce alone.

There is review from that guy. All credits to mr. TP.

Spoilers possible ahead if you care about that.
The Mandrake Project is a unique album in Bruce’s career although I hear throw backs to other albums. Several songs give me AOB/TCW vibes, moments here and there give me BTP feels, and one song has a melody/riff that sounds exactly like a Skunkworks song. There’s also a brief lyric straight from TCW.
The album is mostly slow to mid-tempo with bursts of fast stuff and there is more ballad and orchestral stuff than I expected.
Bruce’s vocal performance (singing and spoken) across the album is, of course, incredible and I almost feel like the focus of this album is more on his vocals than the music if that makes any sense.
There are some guest musicians including a couple of guitar solos (no, not the Maiden guys although I wish Adrian had been one of them).
Afterglow of Ragnarok you’ve all heard.
Many Doors To Hell is my favorite song on the album so far and it could be a single.
Rain On The Graves you’ve all heard.
Resurrection Men has almost a western cowboy feel to it and I could imagine Bruce making a video for this in that style.
Fingers In The Wounds alternates between soft and heavy with an interesting middle section.
Eternity Has Failed will take getting used to after being used to Maiden’s version. This one is much slower although what Roy and Mistheria do in the middle is a lot of fun!
Mistress Of Mercy is one of the heavier songs and has Skunkworks feels to me.
Face In The Mirror is a beautiful ballad with fantastic vocals.
Shadow Of The Gods is much softer than I expected it to be, well, until the “Halford” part comes!
Sonata (Immortal Beloved) is a long atmospheric piece that is almost Pink Floyd in places and has spoken word moments.
I’ve only listened to the album four times so far and it’s clearly an album that grows on you with each listen. I think it will end up as my third favorite of his albums behind AOB and TCW.
So the album will be very good according to this review. Great. But it is referred as an album that grows on you with each listen. My thoughts:
TMP is a unique album - that's great to hear.
Throw backs to other albums - this was expected and cool.
Several songs give him AOB/TCW - awesome!
BTP vibes here and there - expected, given the reviews. I hope it's for the best.
One song with a Skunkworks-esque melody/riff - so not only Ragnarok's chorus, a surprise. But it's nice that Bruce is acknowledging this album.
Brief lyric straight from TCW - that's curious.
The album is mostly slow to mid-tempo with bursts of fast stuff - I feared that, but since Roy compared the album with TCW, I expected it. Or BTP for such a feature. I can't say I'm not bothered with that. TOS was the opposite - only 2/3 slow songs. I'm sure I'll like it, but in an album with mostly medium-length songs, I don't think it's that good of a decision.
There is more ballad and orchestral stuff - Orchestral stuff? Cool, Mistheria in more action. More ballad? I really don't like that.
The focus on the album is more on Bruce's vocals than the music - So like TOS, but the songs in it really compensate. Let's see if the new ones can do the same. I'm 50/50 on that. I want to hear more of Bruce's vocals ofc, but not at the cost of heavy repetition - especially in the shorter songs. Maybe Roy was ''lazy'' on this album, not Bruce. Which would be a shame, especially since this album has been so long in the making.
There are some guest musicians, including a couple of guitar solos - Ok, I don't like this at all. Wow! Is this a solo album or a project...? Not just for guitar solos!? Bummer. I mean, for the solos they have an excuse (again, why did they have to record the album when Roy had a problem), but other guest musicians? For what? Bruce & Roy are the team. For vocals? That would be a big surprise. Bass parts? Possible.

Many Doors - I feel like this would have been the perfect (potential hit?) single.
Resurrection Men - I hope the western feel is only in the intro.
Fingers In The Wounds - alternates between soft and heavy, for such a short song I'm not sure if this is the right choice (especially since the album is mostly mid-tempo), so we'll see. Interesting middle section for such a short song sounds curious.
Eternity Has Failed - hmmm, the instrumental section should be cool.
Mistress Of Mercy - heavy and melodic, this one should be a beast. But Skunkworks feel????
Face In The Mirror - beautiful ballad with fantastic vocals... bring it on!
Shadow Of The Gods - much softer? I didn't expect that. The title sounds like something from TCW or TOS. I hope I like it. Halford-esque part? Cool, like on ''A Tyranny Of Souls''.
Sonata - I hope there aren't many spoken word moments.

Tbh, some of the things mentioned here... I'm not a fan of. I'm really curious why Bruce (given the reviews) decided to do ''so much'' ''experimentation'' for this album after so long.

They blend pretty well in this song though ;)

It was supposed to be a 'Three Tremors' song as well, that's why.

I feel like, its just gonna be Bruce in it doing different vocal parts, right @TheMercenary ?
