Bruce Dickinson Survivor 2012, Results thread - Joint Winners!

Now it's time to show why I point my arrows on The Alchemist, one of the most overrated Bruce songs on this forum, at least the last time when this survivor was done, and now again people treat it with handgloves.

Most other Bruce songs which are left I find intriguing from the beginning till the end but when I listen to The Alchemist I especially like the first 3 and a half minutes (The Stargazer solo-part included). After that I am less fond of the Chemical-Wedding-revisited part. It works on the album, but this poll is about separate songs with their own unique strengths.

A shame that e.g. Ghost of Cain and Broken (songs with more own identity and variation) get a lot of beating here, where a more critical attitude towards a half copy and past song would be more in its place.

Silver Wings is a dynamic kick ass song by the singer of our favourite band. Its lead guitar work and metal riffs totally annihilate the bulk of its concurrents. That mid piece is stunning. If they'd play this song in Tehran, even the deafest and least flexible Ayatollahs would jump up and down.
 
I probably will start voting for the Alchemist pretty soon. It's a fucking disgrace that Urizen is leading in the votes, by the way.

I actually think it's one of his most compelling songs. I placed it above eight of the remaining songs.

Yea you are, my #1 and #3 songs :p

On the subject of Alchemist, the reprise is what makes the song so awesome for me, the way it changes keys, and the guitar parts are different. A bit of mellotron doesn't hurt either. It's the perfect closer, and I enjoy it on its own too.

Silver Wings is such a great metal track.
