British Lion 2013 Tour

Ok I'm not that bad, I admit. :)
I'm also quite sure that if there were coming in my city and the price was less than 100$ I would have gone. Even in Abu Dhabi, no problem.

You know what? I had a dream tonight, about me walking with Steve along an East End pier that was apparently five kilometres long, and he was telling me about growing up in the East End, and he was lecturing me about the linguistics of Cockney slang, and the etymology of Paul Di'anno's name. He then excused himself, and I walked back to the dockyards where I met Lauren. I told her that Steve had just spent three hours talking about himself, and she said, "yeah, sounds like him."

Yesterday evening I saw the first half of crappy Hammer film with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing called Satanic Rites of Dracula, which is from 1973 and filmed a.o. places on location in London. I thought I recognized some of the docks / East End.

Reminded me of Steve Harris who must have been busy with music and walking those areas in that time.
:)

Not really. Looking at dialects, as far as I remember, Cockney is the one that requires the most attention, simply because it has a large number of specific features. Discussing them in details takes a long time. Other English dialects can be discussed in a few classes. I'm not talking about Scottish and Irish here, since they both were studied in separate two-semester courses, so they were practically given far more attention. The same would refer to Cymraeg, but sadly there was no one to teach it.

Fit? That's like Aberdonian patter. Fit's this, & fit's that.

Aye, don't think I'll be able to hang around either. But I'll be there all afternoon before the gig! :p
Hope I don't get knocked back at the door...

Have you looked at the cost of a room at one of the budget hotels, like Travelodge? I've had a room at the Leeds one for something like £25-£30 before.

Unfortunately I can't afford to stay in a budget hotel. Since I'm having to save every penny I can at the moment I will have to take the cheapest option and go straight home.

:( Ah well. If you can get home that's not so bad.
I don't have the option from Manchester, but I was lucky enough to find a cheap and highly recommended guest house nearby

I managed to get a £25 Travelodge room in the centre of Birmingham when I went to see Iced Earth. Not bad for a Saturday in the second biggest city in the country!

If any living thing, be they man, wizard, bird or beast, present in The Garage, on the twenty-ninth day of March, in the year two thousand & thirteen, in the presence of the mighty Steve Harris, of Iron Maiden fame, declareth, or otherwise identify themselves, as the individual named Black Wizard, of Maidenfans; then the aforementioned individual will be entitled to expect a pint of beer, or any other refreshment of their choice, should they wish to partake in such activities, to be purchased, for their exclusive enjoyment, by someone, who may appear from the crowd offering to purchase said beverage, on the express & exclusive condition that they are, indeed, the individual named Black Wizard. "I am Black Wizzzaaaaaard!!!!!", loudly bellowed, may suffice; unless more than one individual utters this proclamation. Should this scenario unfold, no such offer is likely to be forthcoming, & what may unfold cannot be foretold.

I'm not entirely sure I'll be taking up that challenge to be honest. I'll be surrounded by a bunch of fifty-somethings who will already be annoyed enough that some kid is at their gig so yelling out nonsense might make my evening a little awkward.
