Black Sabbath

I just watched the performance of Paranoid, and I will not watch anything else from this gig. It was a bad decision to do this show. Sabbath should not be remembered like this. You don't celebrate a person's life by looking at their last photos from their deathbed, and you should not celebrate Sabbath's career this way.

I watched a clip of Iron Maiden on the BBC and it was a bit sad to see Ozzy in that state, shaking and sat on a throne.

I'd rather keep the memories of their show I witness in London in 2017 on their farewell tour.

I felt a bit like this. Hard to see. But we are not him. And he has said he wanted to say goodbye on stage

I remember to be here and discuss it but the song this colour dont run iswhat bruce said that day at the eggfest

So what? He might have used that phrase on Eggfest, but the song has nothing to do with Sharon Osbourne (and neither is she on the cover of the album).

Im not here to argue i remember when thr album was out we spoke about it. I dont care

Iron Maiden members never get invited to these events. They don't seem to have any "friend bands". Maybe Deep Purple only.

I understand what you mean but, on the other hand, it is part of the whole story and I totally understand why Ozzy wanted to do it.

It's surprising that Deep Purple as the whole band or some band member wasn't invited either since they're still an active band. Zeppelin, Sabbath and Purple are often lumped as "the (un)holy trinity of the 70's British heavy rock". Zeppelin is not active but Page or Plant could have been invited too when someone like Steven Tyler was.

Well we dont know their personal relationships. Brian May and Roonie Wood were there, but also maybe other guys were invited but had other obligations.

I belive if Paul was still alive he would be invited, at least as a guest, not performer.

I spent the whole year agreeing with that, but surprisingly, this show actually changed my mind. I get the impression that the place where Ozzy feels most alive is still the stage. Not that he’s doing well and it’s sad to see him trying to stand up at times and not being able to (at least that’s the impression I got), but compared to all the interviews I saw from him from the last 2 or 3 years, this was the best he's looked imo.

And even beyond his set and Sabbath's, just having him present for a celebration like this with so many great bands playing Sabbath classics and deep cuts was moving. I'd only compare it to the Freddie Mercury tribute concert in terms of vibe. And tbh, just seeing Iommi and Geezer still kicking ass and playing these songs at nearly 80 years old made it worth it for me.

He has been preparing for the show or a tour for almost 4 years. He tried to tour years ago and the tour with priest was cancel. He just wanted to play one more show at home. I think it was better than a festival with all that famous musicians playing their songs. But yes, hard to see. But he managed to sing

Agree on all points. I was sceptical before, but when I saw the performance I got really moved actually. I don't think I'll think about Mama I'm Coming Home the same way ever again. I'm glad he got to witness the celebration, and I really liked the set-up. Was a cool show and tribute!

Considering it was essentially a "who's who" of metal, the absence of Maiden on the Ozzy farewell was notable. Bruce's inability to swallow his pride and just be a team player has probably cost them a lot of opportunities like this.
