It's interesting how the film techniques are so opposite in that last battle: Enter Sandman is full of quick cuts and flashes, Holy Diver is long takes with camera motion. Love Dio, but that video is just him walking around a bombed out church, killing a guy for no reason, then getting another sword because he threw his away.

Sorry to tie up Battle 7. I just didn't understand the point of the Snow White theme in the Rammstein video. Was she good or evil? Did the miners/dwarves even like her? If not, why give her a glass coffin? How did the apple breaking the glass resurrect her? An interesting idea, badly executed.

I feel about 10 IQ points stupider after watching the "Tribute" video. I am generally a Jack Black fan, but Tenacious D suxx.

A BDSM Snow White fantasy? She's the adored light in their miserable lives so they consent to her enslaving and beating them. Certainly not a sanitised Disney version of a fairytale. I guess the apple bringing her round is just a twist because the poisoned apple is what puts Snow White in a deep sleep (assumed dead) in the original tale.

I never voted for a song in the tied pair. So I watched them simultaneously while listening to a completely different song. Can I add a vote to Peter Gabriel?

End of Battles 6,7 and 8, just two more to go in this round, then we move into the Top 10.

Metallica get not one but 13 votes to go through to the next round, but Tenacious D's Tribute is evidently not the greatest video in the world with just 2.
Peter Gabriel keeps on digging in the dirt to get 8 votes, while Rammstein can go where the sun don't shine with 7.
Dio nets 10 votes with Holy Diver, while it's 'Exit Sandman' for Metallica's third entry, polling just five votes.

Sweating Bullets is a really cool music video that perfectly fits the song. Drive Home is a brilliantly constructed short film that, while suiting the song very well, succeeds more on a visual level than an audio level. It's a great achievement, but I find myself hearing the music as a score rather than a song, which is not what I think a music video should do.

Also November Rain because pomp.

I agree with this.

Second vote goes to Genesis.
