Which I think has tied it again. Never mind. Shouldn't make too much difference in the next round.
Foo Fighters – Everlong (14 votes), and Guns N Roses – November Rain (14 votes) go through to Round 2.

Can anything stop the Maiden/Dio train?

Butthole Surfers is an easy choice. Classic song and video.
White Stripes was better than I expected, but Sepultura's animation perfectly matched that song.

Sepultura for most original video of the bunch.
White Stripes for the simplicity........and the pole dancing.

Rest of the videos too lame and campy.

Sepultura (a really great video which I would have nominated if someone else hadn't) and Maiden (hate the song, but the video makes me laugh every time - the first time Bruce "jumps out" of the plants is priceless).

Butthole were completely out of question - I don't like the band and I don't like the style of the video... and while Dio and Moore/Lynott are unquestionably the best songs of this bunch (heck, maybe the best songs so far), the videos are undisputably weak.

A nod to WS - while I don't like the band, this song (along with Seven Nation Army) is fun and the idea for the video is nice... though it's also somewhat cheap.

Maiden win their first outing of this survivor (7 votes), Dio grabs second place (6 votes).

Wow, really strong group here. I went with Peter Gabriel, which is fascinating from beginning to end, and Meshuggah, which I think is a clever bit of silliness.

Cradle of Filth is gloriously creepy, so would have got my vote in a different group. Pantera and Rush were good videos, but didn't stand out as particularly special. Metallica felt a bit like a "We've got lots of money to make a music video" kind of music video.

Sledgehammer and Metallica. Cradle of Filth gives me a headache, both the video and the music. Rush's video is decent, but it hasn't aged well.

Went with Gabriel (duh) and Cradle because the video makes impression on me (too bad the song itself doesn't).

Pantera and Metallica are very run-of-the-mill and while I love both Rush and the song, the video's too cheesy for me to take it seriously.

The Meshuggah one is great. Would get my vote in another group.

First vote goes to Metallica. I remember when this video came out, I was a big Metallica fan and 11 year old me thought it was just the coolest thing ever.

Also voting for the Peter Gabriel video for the sheer ridiculousness.

Peter Gabriel looks like being the runaway winner here, although there's still a few days to go.

Sledgehammer is a no-brainer. Only question is which of the other five gets my second.

Metallica is OK, but their "GQ" period and that high-gloss look make me sick.
Nice Rush vid - I was without MTV when that came out so I'd never seen that before.
Meshuggah vid is actually pretty entertaining, for a bunch of guys air-banding.
Cradle of Filth ... I made it through 90 seconds. Best I've ever done with one of their songs. Video is badly-done forced creeepiness.

Second vote to: Pantera. Love all the references to old music. They look like they're having fun instead of trying to be hard, and it works.

Peter Gabriel grabs a convincing win, Metallica get second place.
