hear hear, mother russia is going to get my vote at some point too. Big fan of NPFTD but think it's the worst album closer... apart from the Legacy  :innocent:

Iron Maiden is pretty bad, I'll admit... ok, you got me with Drifter. Let's say worst album closer with Bruce...

I think that it's better than Paul and Blaze era closers and better than Only The Good Die Young. Other Bruce era closers are better. So Mother Russia is the 10th best closer IMO.

Mother Russia worse than Fear of the Dark? Mwah, I find Mother Russia more interesting these days.
Mother Russia worse than The Thin Line..? Nah.
Mother Russia worse than The Legacy? Nope.
Mother Russia worse than Journeyman? Hell no.
Mother Russia worse than WTWWB? Hmm, also not.

Mother Russia I find captivating from start to finish, a very majestic song with some brilliant melodies and atmosphere. Even though some of the fast midpiece rhythm patterns sound like the title track from SSOASS, the song feels more original and features stronger riffs and bass playing than the later ones.

The other songs are good but suffer from a few dragging or/and repetitive parts.

So for me Mother Russia is the 4th, 5th or 6th best closer, maybe even 3rd. Can't choose at this moment.

Mother Russia is pretty awesome and very much above-average, but I don't think it beats The Legacy and Thin Line. If anything, it's more or less equal..
But that's just, like, my opinion, man.

The ending I find the worst part of that song. Fantastic solo, and beginning, though.

4. Very close, but Journeyman has one of the best Maiden choruses, so it wins.
