Re: GAME: Best Iron Maiden album song that was NEVER played live - Round 14 - #7
Alexander The Great
Isle of Avalon
And my participation in this thread ends here - all the other songs would've sounded fucking phenomenal played live.
I wish that on the Seventh Tour of the Seventh Tour gigs (Maiden England?), they'd end each gig like Only The Good Die Young song ends...

I'm sorry, but that long instrumental section of The Duellists is simply amazing. The only downside of the song is the "whoa-oh, fight for the honor" tripe. But those 4 minutes in the middle are some of Maiden's best work. Overall, the song is a cousin to Phantom and To Tame a Land.
No problem with that. Way cooler than all other oohoohooo moments on Maiden's catalogue (apart from Heaven Can Wait). The music in that chorus is great as well. Check Adrian's long open chords as opposed to Dave's quick rhythm playing (in sync with 'Arry). The Duellists is one of the songs from Powerslave, presenting an important change in Maiden's music. Around this time, Maiden started to use different rhythm guitar playing, where earlier, most of the stuff was equal.
That's really a treat for people who like to hear details in Maiden's (guitar) music.
Anyone who did not hear The Duellists on headphones should visit a shrink.
