I nominate

Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus (1986)

A tremendous classic and the first doom metal album unleashed upon mankind.
With a great singer (in both range and power) (and no grunts ;-) ).
Let me urge you to give this stunning milestone a chance and you won't regret ! :shred:
(that last track starting at 42:47 does not belong on this album)

Decided to vote against Abbey Road because I like Sgt. Pepper better. Also voted against Screaming for Vengeance just to keep it from getting too uppity. Voted against all the early 90s albums excepts Stormrider. Among the newly added ones I voted against BOC, Boss, Queen-Races, VdGG, Jailbreak (that hurt), Aerosmith and 2112. Voting against Kiss was fun.

+1 to Marillion, Misplaced Childhood (though it's gonna get killed).

Can I give a -1 to Candlemass?

I'm a bit surprised that Zeppelin does not get more love on this forum. Physical Graffiti is probably the best album on this entire list. Heck, disc one alone would be the best album.

Also throwing these non-metal nominations out there, in case they resonate with anyone else:

Paul Simon, Graceland (1986)
Beastie Boys, License to Ill (1986)
R.E.M., Life's Rich Pageant (1986) [I love this album, btw]
The Replacements, Tim (1985)

+1 for Paul Simon

I am judging each and every one of you who voted for Born to Run. :( Probably my ~third favorite album ever. Then again, there's some stiff competition here.

You know, I've never actually listened to Paul Simon. Now might be a good time for that.

I'm with Cornfed on the Zep comment - I've never really figured out the lack of love for that band around here

And no disrespect to Sabotage, but it's hardly Sabbath's best work. When it beats Born To Run or Abbey Road, I chalk it up to a genre thing, but equal to stylistic peers like Agents of Fortune, Physical Graffiti, 2112 and especially Jailbreak?
I just don't see it. I'd take Emerald alone over the entire Sabotage album.

Agreed. Physical Graffiti is so good and it's not even their best album. Abbey Road and Born To Love have way too many votes

Jailbreak?
I just don't see it. I'd take Emerald alone over the entire Sabotage album.
Yesterday I played whole Jailbreak and this is my take on it:
Boys are back in town: Pretty OK
Jailbreak, Emerald: :ok:
Warriors: :notworthy:
Rest:

So, next time I'll be voting different.

Fair enough, I like the jazzy settings and emotional guitar flourishes on the softer songs.
My take:
Overall a great mix of light and heavy, lots of variation from song-to-song, unique original sound, awesome lyrics and some of my favourite guitar playing on record.
Angel, Romeo:), Jailbreak, Running Back, Boys, Fight, Cowboy Song :ok:, Warriors, Emerald :notworthy:
But it looks like it will be the first of my all-time faves to fall.
