Are Maiden Tattoed Millionaires?

I'm afraid agdabavipain that indeed your posts were off-topic,  we're talking about Maiden's cheap ways to make money and you complain about single releases in the U.S and places they haven't played in?

On the one hand you're right.  But Maiden can't possibly tour so many places.  I'm not against this kind of competitions,  I'm angry they charge so much.  If it's for the fans,  then charge as little as you can and without profiting from it.  They have a lot of money and they don't need more.  Also,  I mentioned the x-factour launch party.  Has anyone seen it?  This could possibly be the main reason I called Maiden tattoed millionaires.

I think they should profit from it, after all that is how they make their living... their living could be quite expensive so they might need more after all. As long as they make great music, granted not for much longer, I'm happy.

Fuck, yes! I forgot Mexico City! How could I?
Come to think of it, I also forgot Havanna, Guatemala... (blah blah...a LOT) ...last but not least Matâ-'Utu.

What about Belfast?! (only joking, only joking...)

And agdabavipain, if you don't stop provoking people you're quite likely to wind yourself up with a ban.  You made a comment (off-topic, I might add), to which Perun gave an answer.  You have no right to complain about people diverting a thread's topic due to something you wrote originally.

That's one of the best points made, I think. No-one has to buy this or that from them, fly a plane with them or indeed pay to meet them. There is no arm twisting here.

And if they do make a profit, then why not. I'll buy their CD's and DVD's, see their shows but thats where it stops with me. If I did have a grand to spare I proably would do the Bruce-air jobby, mainly as it would be a weekend away around my birthday.

Ajaccio is in. According to my sources, that is the capital of Corsica.  :innocent:

So,  you guys who say that it's ok for Maiden to do these things and profit from them because they might have an expensive living,  all agree that they are Tattoed Millionaires then eh?  Gee,  and I thought Dickinson didn't want to be one.  I agree with you guys that if they can do it,  let them do it.  But honestly they shouldn't pretend it's not about the money.  That's all.

Well, you're certanly right. Everything is about money in this world. People tries to make as much money because: A. They have to work to survive and therefore tries to make as much as possible. And B. Their ego is so developed, they  are obsessed with gathering as much recources as possible.

I'd say Maiden are in the middle of A and B. But wouldn't we all be, if we could make a lot of money? If your boss tells you that you can choose your own salary, wouldn't you make it as high wage as possible? So why shouldn't Maiden be allowed to charge a little extra money to make their life even more comfortable? It's their job. Just as we all have jobs! (Well, I don't since i'm not 18). As I said, Maiden are doing what most people would do.

But on the other hand, wouldn't it be nice of 'em to charge a bit lower for the concerts? Of course. But unfortunly, I don't think it's up to them to set the price of the tickets. But it would be nice with lower prices so that more people could come to the concerts more times. It would actually maybe be profitable.

As for the merchendise etc, I think they should be allowed to charge as much as they want. Because, merchendise isn't a must have for the fans, in reality. It's what a fan consider a nice little spice, but not really useful. So if people are stupid enough to throw away money on loads of merchendise, they shouldn't be angry at the prices, since It's their choice to buy it when It's not necessary.

I'm afraid it is.  In fact,  yesterday I read an article in Focus about concerts.  It would seem that the artists and the labels decide together about the prices.  Also,  a band usually gets 20% of the ticket price,  but big names (Maiden in this case) can get as much as 50%.

I highly doubt that... Most of the money goes to the venue promotor, vendor and record label, and unless it is an independant band, they have little say over ticket prices.

Exactly.  If £11 out of a £17 Album goes to the record labels, why should the decision-making process of setting prices on tickets be any different?

There are cases in which bands get a considerable amount of the money made by them. The best example is Led Zeppelin. They got 90% of the income of their gigs, and their promoters still got rich. I really think that Maiden get at least up to 50%. That doesn't mean they have a say in the pricing, however. They get their fixed rates, but I'll eat a rabbit alive if they have control over how much money that actually is.
