Anthrax

Yeah, you and most Anthrax fans. Oh well, I'll enjoy my little spot in the minority.
I loved the John Bush era, all pretty solid albums, actually better than some of the Belladona stuff, but not as good as the best of Belladona stuff.

I don't worry about the change of singers/fiasco because that's their business, I don't know what went on internally there.

But the best was John Bush singing the best Bush-era stuff and the best Belladonna-era stuff.

Bush is one of the nicest, most humble metal dudes I've ever seen (or met). Whatever internal stuff was happening, it was all happening between Ian, Benante, and their ideas of what the band/money should be.

Are they supporting like they were for Volbeat? Although I vastly prefer Killswitch to Volbeat.

Worship Music is my favourite Anthrax album, 2nd fav is Persistence of Time,

Not sure about For All Kings because I haven't had much opportunity to listen to it.
For All Kings is a very good album, much better than the latest Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Halloween, Megadeth and Metallica albums. Well done Anthrax.

Tour started last night

https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/anthrax/2018/valley-view-casino-center-san-diego-ca-1beda168.html

much shorter than i expected considering they are the third band playing out of five. They left two Joey cds out of the list plus Fistful of Metal
Very short indeed. They must be getting paid nicely for this tour to be worth their while. I wasn't interested in this tour anyway, and since Anthrax (the best band on the bill) have such a short set I'm glad I wasn't interested.

Saw the tour last night. Set has not changed. Even though I am not happy about how short the set was, their performance was very well received by the audience. Joey seemed easier to understand than Chuck did earlier during the Testament set. Anthrax gave it their all. Just wish the setlist had covered more lps and had not been dominated by the
Among the Living cd. Guess that is par for the course nowadays from them. Really surprised they skipped the Worship Music cd

Am I the only one who thinks that Belladonna's vocals on Spreading the Disease are probably the best on any thrash album?

I am definitely a fan of Joey's vocals on STD, but don't know if I would go that far. There are so many different types of thrash singers (Chuck Billy, Bobby Blitz, Sean Killian) hard to compare

I don't think anything Joey Belladonna has done could be considered "the best" of anything. He was perfectly serviceable during his first tenure in Anthrax and he contributed to a couple amazing albums, but his voice was never the highlight.

Now that I think of it I don't really agree with my statement anymore, but his voice sounds really great on a lot of the early songs.

Belladonna is good for that "glam metal on speed" sound that Anthrax had on their early albums. He's very high pitched and melodic which works for Anthrax, personally I prefer more aggressive thrash metal vocals that has some snarl to em.
