That's true, but there is also something about the material (at least the songs I heard here) that feels...90's? It's a style that doesn't particular fit with Amorphis. Anyway, regardless what it is, the Pasi material did not move me the way the second album or Tomi stuff does. I did not vote for Kantele, Way, Beliefs, or Sun as those songs were all solid.

I believe this may be a hazard of listening to only these songs that have progressed and not entire albums in order, but that's the danger I mentioned before jumping into this survivor. My opinions might change in a year or so once I've given this entire band's discography many hearty listens. As they stand in this list, though, I can't help but find them less enjoyable than the rest.

No prob, I'm glad you joined!

I particular like the atmosphere and (vocal) melodies in pre-chorus and chorus in Shatters Within. A stand out song for me.

Uisliu, Lost Name of God, The Way, Everything from Am Universum and Far From the Sun, Servant, Battle For Light, Enemy at the Gates.

Good news for Eclipse fans: http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/amorphis-announces-eclipse-tenth-anniversary-tour/

They'll be playing the album in full, plus additional songs. Based on emails I've gotten from Enter The Vault (a ticket sales company in N.A.), this tour will probably extend to the States by the new year.

My votes:

Exile, Lost Name, Sign.
Way, Divinity, Shining.
Goddess, Shatters.
Day
, Far, Follow.
Perkele, Servant, Skyforger, Mission, Abyss.

Songs in bold are great but competition is tough :(
Underlined songs are solid but would sound much better if they re-recorded them with the current lineup, better production and Tomi on vocals.

My proposed sequel to Magic & Mayhem:

  1. The Gathering
  2. Grail's Mysteries
  3. The Pilgrimage
  4. Forgotten Sunrise
  5. Better Unborn
  6. The Way
  7. Summer's End
  8. Alone
  9. Goddess (Of The Sad Man)
  10. Shatters Within
  11. Grieve Stricken Heart
  12. Day Of Your Beliefs (with Smithereens intro)

I really don't get these votes for the (remaining songs from the) one but last album. Such strong material.
Night Prowler, you even voted for all of them. *shakes head*

Brigs, Knick, don't follow these two guys!

Tough competition. There's 17 songs I haven't voted for still and it's gonna be even harder to vote when the list becomes even smaller.

You mean Circle? I only find one song on that album to be excellent, whereas I find 5 songs from Under the Red Cloud to be excellent, not to mention you guys (as a group) killed my favourites from The Beginning of Times and Silent Waters.

There are so many songs left and so many good songs left that I'm currently voting for everything that receives less than a 9 or 10/10 from me.

Sign from the North Side, Against Widows, On Rich & Poor, My Kantele, The Way, Divinity, Alone, The Smoke, A Servant, Beginning of Time, Hopeless Days, and Dark Path.

Farewell "A Servant"!

By the way, I attended this gig:
EDIT: I did not! I saw Amorphis one year earlier at the same venue. Might have been Joutsen's debut in my country. I saw them on 14 April 2006 on an event called Neckbreakers Ball with Hypocrisy as headliner. Other bands Soilwork, Amorphis, One Man Army and the Undead Quartet en Scar Symmetry.

You can imagine I experienced the gig like this. At front, near Holopainen.

 Crazy votes I tell ya! Would've though Kantele is a snap top 5. Actually, I remember you saying you didn't really like some of the early material with one of the singers, so have you heard the Tomi Joutsen versions of the early material (from the 2010 Magic and Mayhem compilation)? You might prefer those versions for at lease some of the songs (I know I do).

I definitely do prefer the Tomi versions, but in general I haven't heard anything as strong as the original Tomi songs left in the competition (or the second album stuff). As I've said before, though, I haven't listened to most of these albums from start to finish since I just start listening and am only following along with the remaining survivor songs. My opinion might change in a year once I've given the discography some breathing room.
