Ditto and likewise- I never thought Adrian had that much affinity for Rush, which is one of my fav bands from growing up listening to my older brothers blasting their stuff. I would have preferred to hear him on "Limelight" or "Working Man," but this is still good. Can't wait until it comes out!

Very cool. In fact the entire album sounds cool.
Rush definitely lends itself to this treatment.

On "Limelight," I would have loved to hear his signature "crunch" (I'm thinking of the section on WTWWB post H/Davey solos, pre-Janick solo, "They make a tea and sit there waiting . . . ") on the intro and plus how he would handle the flowing bits ("Living the the limelight the universal dream . . . "). On Working Man, well that intro, again, but it would really be about his interpretation of Alex's solo (his best, IMO). Mmmmmmm . . . tone!

In general, it will be very interesting to hear Adrian's take on Alex's guitar work. I'm honestly not very guitar technique savvy but I know what I like in terms of sound and both Adrian and Alex are masters of their work. I wonder if Adrian will maybe try and copy Alex or if he'll go off and do his own thing but I would almost like to think the latter.

He'll do his own thing, and kick ass while at it.
Ever heard him playing Tears Of The Dragon solo?

;)

Of course he will!
I actually just heard that the other night. I was looking up some of Bruce's solo shows and I happened to watch a performance of that song. That was a great one.

Yup. Vosselaar, Belgium 1998. If memory serves me right, Forostar attended that particular gig.
H was really furious that night, check whole bootleg if you haven't, another gem is Powerslave where he plays Dave's first solo.

I saw it back in 1998. Had to look twice though when the solo came on. I thought The Guru would take over all Roy Z's parts but no way; it was H alright.

What memories. Up til that point I had seen Maiden 3 times but without Adrian. So I saw him for the first time (somehow I was unaware of Bruce gigging in 1997, so I missed that).

How much energy the whole band had on stage. King in Crimson was one of the highlights I thought. When The Guru took the first solo, I vividly remember how Adrian and Eddie Casillas were facing each other, enjoying those riffs. A bit like this (this clip is from Milan; I saw them 8 days later), check it out from 9:05 onwards:

I saw them in Hardenberg, one day after Vosselaar. Unfortunately I don't know any recordings. :/

I'll definitely have to check the whole thing out. I did see Powerslave too. I sat there wondering before it even got to it, if H was going to play Dave's solo. Low and behold, he did! It was odd but at the same time, very cool. Nobody but him should be allowed to play Dave's solos.

That's awesome that you actually got to see it in person!

Thanks for the heads up (re: Vosselaar), I'm checking that stuff out now! I've seen the Milan boot before, but I think TOTD got screwed up by numerous power outages. I saw Bruce/Adrian in 1997 in Chicago (hence the profile pic) and I think Roy took Dave's first solo on Powerslave. My memory is a bit fuzzy after all these years.

As for H doing Alex's solo, I think it will be cool. I wasn't a fond of when Lifeson started playing this tinny, etheral-style solos around this time and getting away from the more traditional (pentatonic/blues scale) solos. So, hopefully, Adrian will bring more of his Les Paul-growlish tone to the proceedings. Still, gonna get it the day it's released and wallow in the sound!
