Some interesting things from this photo about gear during "The Entire Population Of Hackney" gig.

It seems that Dave and Steve played their own instruments and not borrowed ones. Dave is playing the 1964 Strat. It's a shame we don't see what Adrian is playing, as that would be the most interesting thing. Was it Jacksons? Was it the black Charvel Strat? Or was it still Lados? Tremolo work sounds like a Floyd, but we know that the black LADO had a Floyd at this point. Also, on Silver and Gold I assume he played the original Roland Synth guitar. Or were the MIDI Jacksons already made. But, from Adrian's sound it's very safe to say that he was playing Gallien Kruegers at this point already.

It's definitely not a Lado, guessing from the headstock. It's a Charvel, or he already got a Jackson.

I used them for 10 years on my 7 string guitars. 9-46, and a single 68 for the 7th string. I play in Drop A. I still use 10-52 on my SG, for standard tuning. I like thicker strings to riff, but thinner ones for solos. So Hybrids are my go-to. On the SG I have to use a heavier gauge because of the shorter scale. It gives roughly the same tension as on the normal scale ones. But recently I switched to D'Addario NYXLs for my two main live guitars. They are a bit more expensive, but stays in tune much better than the Ernies, and doesn't lost their sound and clarity for a much longer time.

I’m a massive fan of the D’Addario XS strings. They’re basically coated NYXLs and last forever

Coated? Hm. I was always cautious with them, but maybe I will give them a go on one of my fixed bridge guitars. For the one with a trem, I tend to stick with the same brand, style and gauge, it's a pain in the ass to set it up to another stringtype :D
 
I hate coated strings. I dont't know why, but I hate them. The normal DAddarios are good, but they have some kind of zing when they are new, which goes away in a day or two. But, if I play a lot, I sweat so much anyway that strings need to be changed in 5 days to a week.

That's why I changed to D'Addario NYXLs. They seems to deal with sweat better than the Ernies. The normal ones not so much, but there's something in NYXLs.

Well, I might try them for Les Pauls one day. From my experience, extended life strings for guitars with floating trems are a waste of money.

Yes. The optimal window for D'Addarios is really small in my experience. At first they sound zingy, then they sound great and then they dull out. The great sounding day is only on the 2nd day tho. While Ernie Balls sound great from the go until day 5.

(I'm speaking from the perspective of playing 2-3 hours a day).

Also, the band I work for uses D'Addarios. On main guitars they are gone after soundcheck plus 14 songs.
