This is too good to be true :D After a thousand suns I never thought we'd see this kind of entertainment again, the 12 days of Christmas keep on giving :D

Listening a lot to it and The Final Frontier back to back. I still think AMOLAD is a stronger record but Isle Of Avalon is, for me, the best song of the whole reunion era. H's riffage is amazing on it and the melodies are really strong.

I agree 100% with this.

Page 1 is pure madness, and then page 2 the reasonable discussion continues.

Also, thousand_suns, thank you for joining the discussion.

I agree that it's a good album.  I loved it when it came out and I still do.  I'm especially pleased that I was able to see it performed live twice, those were some amazing shows.

I do agree with the notion that some of the songs take a bit too long to get going.  That and it's very, very samey all the way through.  Especially when compared to Final Frontier which is a far more varied album.

The one thing I like most about AMOLAD is the return of some good Maiden riffing.  1000 Suns, Breeg and Lord of Light are some of the riffiest stuff they've done since Powerslave.

I like this album far more than Brave New World and Dance of Death and I keep going back and forth with ranking it either slightly ahead or behind TFF.  Which basically means it rules.

Struggling to comprehend what Bluescrewed is going on about  Back on topic, AMOLAD took perhaps the longest of all Maiden albums to click with me, but when it finally did it was well worth it. Thousand Suns and Lord of Light are amazing tracks and The Re-incarnation of Benjamin Breeg is alot of fun when performed live. Brave New World is still my favorite post Blaze album, but AMOLAD would be next.

I disagree with snake plissken about Isle Of Avalon being the top Maiden song of the last decade. There are superior songs, i think.

On topic, Amolad is a huge step forward of what they did in Dance of Death. The lyrics are great, and musically it's a complex album. The production has this heavier sound (i don't know how to say it) that brings a dark atmosphere to the album. Bruce is in top-form. The riffs are really back, as you said, so finally three guitars are really there (and not only in one or two songs of the previously albums).

So, i'm with Vortex here, BNW and AMOLAD are my favorites post-Blaze albums. I still don't know completely TFF to give any rates to it though (except Coming Home and Starblind, my favorite songs, thus far).

Well you can be over there thinking and I'll be over here knowing ;) Seriously though, Isle isn't gona appeal to everyone and neither is AMOLAD. I just love the depth of both. AMOLAD just keeps on giving like a thousand dollar a night hooker :D

Seems like a hooker that expensive would take more than she gives...  :innocent:

If we're now visualising Maiden albums as hookers I have to say that AMOLAD and TFF are the two most beautiful women to walk the earth (along with their Aunty Somewhere in Time) . As sisters these two have their own identities but familial traits are noticable in that both are sonically sweet, musically intricate and vocally sound. I rate them both a 10 and am amazed that a band in their late 50s can produce such quality.

My pics off AMOLAD: The Longest Day, TROBB, TCDR
