A Dance of Death DVD

So now it's confirmed. There will be a DVD from the Dance of Death tour. But do we really need one? Is another live DVD necessary?

Personally I think it's not. We had Rock in Rio only two years ago, and another live DVD can wait at least until the next tour. To me it seems pretty silly to release live DVD's more often than albums.

I'd rather have a DVD of the Beast On The Road tour. DoD was ok, but nothing compares to the early shows [!--emo&-_---][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/sleep.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'sleep.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

I cannot find any negative aspect about a DVD of the DoD Tour. I saw the concert from Dortmund a few months ago on german television, and it was amazing. If they release another live dvd, they have to put a lot of other stuff on a second CD, maybe some backstage action, tour report etc.
But also i can understand shadow & maverick s opinion. But if anybody has no interest in it, he don't have to buy it.

I think that it would be a good idea only because many didn't get to see the tour! I would have been able to see it if it wasn't during a semester! [!--emo&:cussing:--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/cussing[1].gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'cussing[1].gif\' /][!--endemo--] Maiden just cut back on their shows this year (esp. in the US.) However, I do think that they might overdo the concert DVD just a bit. And YEAH, I think that they should provide some extra footage from behind the scenes....... So you missed the DoD tour, which is why you'd be interested in this DVD. Wouldn't you want a DVD of the Beast On The Road tour 'cause you were there then? [!--emo&:P--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/tongue.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'tongue.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Personally, I'd rather see the earlier videos with new stuff than have new DVDs.

Wouldn't you rather see Children Of The Damned, Murders In The Rue Morgue and Losfer Words from Hammersmith?

Wouldn't you rather see the encores from Maiden England?

Wouldn't you rather see extra footage for the Raising Hell & Live At Donington videos?

Or maybe even some pro-filmed but never released gigs (Hammersmith '82, Hammersmith '84, Paris '86, Marquee 1980, Italy 1981, Dortmund 1983, Donington '88, Sheffield 1986, Wembley 1990, Brixton 2002, Birmingham NEC 2000, Earls Court 2000... and loads more) a compilation of these would be much better than another standard live DVD which I, personally, don't have the money to bother with.

For us Americans, a DVD of the DoD tour will be a most welcome release. I still haven't gotten to see the live version of Paschendale, so a DVD may be as close as I ever get. Sure I've heard boots, but I want to see it. [!--emo&--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/headbang.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'headbang.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

plenty of fakes of live after death on dvd around on ebay. waiting for an official release though! i agree with am, older tours on dvd would be good, but still i disagree with shadow, Rock in rio was a quality live dvd, i wouldnt be complaining if a DOD dvd came out, i dont see why anyone would object.

I think that a new dvd is a great thing! Older ones would be great too, but i really would love to see a Dod show closer. I was so far away from the stage. I can't understand what are you complaining? Oh shit, Maiden's releasing a live dvd! That must be a horrible thing! Those fools! Why don't they ride on their success in the past and release some old gig from the past?
That was pretty silly, because i would love to see a show from the past. The point is, that i don't quite understand what you are complaining. Maybe i'm a bit stupid.

Sorry, if i made someone angry with this post. [!--emo&--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/lol[1].gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'lol[1].gif\' /][!--endemo--]

I personally think that two DVDs of two tours right next to each other is a bit daft, unless they make a twin DVD box set of both the gigs.

Thanks for the news Shadow!
If you don't like a new DVD, so don't buy it....

I think it's great for people who hadn't the chance to see a DoD show...
Also IndianaJones has a good opinion..(BTW I just finished watching IndianaJones part 2 [!--emo&;)--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/wink.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'wink.gif\' /][!--endemo--] someminutes ago.. )

The best solution of our "problem", if you want to call it that way, would be, to release an ultimate Maidenhistory Tour DVD collectors box including a DVD from every tour....

Would be 'kin expensive, but ... well... I'll give a shit about the price.. [!--emo&;)--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/wink.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'wink.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

what do you think?

I think that would be a good idea except I think they should only have some of the best songs from each tour rather than the whole concert. Then it wouldn't be as expensive and I would consider buying it more.

Maybe they arrange then a large and a small release...

Like One for die-hard fans [!--emo&--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/headbang.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'headbang.gif\' /][!--endemo--] and one for low-budget fans [!--emo&;)--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/wink.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'wink.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

If I could decide, I would most certainly want a DVD with some rare songs from different tours (like Remember Tomorrow, Children of the Damned, To Tame A Land, Still Life, Caught Somewhere In Time, Stranger In A Strange Land, Infinite Dreams, No Prayer For The Dying, Sign of the Cross with Blaze, The Edge of Darkness, Lightning Strikes Twice etc).

This would make a very nice variation from the usual live albums/DVD's featuring The Trooper, Run to the Hills, Iron Maiden etc, as well as giving the fans a fair chance to hear and see those songs live.

Along with this, they could feature some songs from the Dance of Death tour and some backstage footage from different tours, and we will have a Maiden DVD I surely would buy!

I´ve seen this Concert Live and i agree with the opinion of Powerslave that it was absolutely amazing.
I want this DVD because the concerts had a good setlist and maiden played like there would be no tomorrow.

Up the Irons

Well, the stage scenery for the DOD songs was absolutely amazing and I personnaly do want a DVD of the tour.

Now, the old debate about Maiden releasing too much will clearly resurface, but for me, getting an album then later a DVD or live album to accompagny it is clearly acceptable (let's not dream, a new album won't arrive before 2005, and even 2006 !).

The problem would be thousands of best-of. But, anyway, Maiden aren't young anymore, so I wouldn't bother having lots of released before its too late. I would even dream of having a DVD box-set with one live DVD per tour....

I already hear the 'cash-cows' arguments coming [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]
