2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil

Iran are always incredibly boring in World Cups. They lack talent, depend on physicality and slow the tempo down. I wish Nigeria had a breakthrough in the 1st half, could've been a much better game.

Both Ghana and USA are teams that are able to play good team football. Has a chance to be a decent game.

The Iran/Nigeria game was definitely the most boring game so far. I actually fell asleep about a minute after it had finished! lol I wasn't expecting much from Iran, but Nigeria were hugely disappointing, even if the Iranians had set up to stifle them. I think Iran actually played better in the 2nd half, and had they snuck a goal, it definitely wouldn't have been unfair to Nigeria. Nigeria will need to play a lot better if they're going to trouble Bosnia, who actually impressed me a lot last night. Hoping for much better in the Ghana/USA game! :)

Goal in the first 33 seconds! And a great goal too by Dempsey! Already more excitement in this game than in the whole of the last game! xD

Go USA!

Why Americans Call Soccer 'Soccer'
The British started it.
... it's a British import. And the Brits used it often—until, that is, it became too much of an Americanism for British English to bear. ...

I thought this was common knowledge. Personally I don't have a problem with the term soccer, as I know its origin. What makes it silly is that in U.S. English, soccer and football aren't synonyms. That when the Americans say football, they mean something else than the rest of the world.

But the article makes some points besides the root of the word, and the commentary field has some elaboration on the perceived differences between American and European sports culture.

I really don't get why Ghana didn't play Michael Essien and Kevin Prince Boateng in the starting lineup yesterday.
