18th Studio Album discussion

X Factor. Horrible prododuction, way to long album and a lot of boring "sad" songs from Steve

Amazing songs:
Sign of the Cross

Good songs:
Lord of the Flies
Man of the Edge
Blood on the Worlds Hands
Edge of Darkness

Shit songs:
Fortunes of War
Look for the Truth
Aftermath
Judgement of Heaven
2AM
Unbeliever

Virtual X1. Better production, shorter and not as bloated, more fun, but a bored and uninspired Nicko

Amazing songs:
Clansman

Good songs:
Futureal
Lightning Strikes Twice
When to Worlds Collide
Educated Fool
Como Estais Amigos

Shit songs:

Angel and the Gambler
Dont look to the Eyes of a Stranger

Aftermath a shit song? I cant agree

While watching Flight 666 again i noticed a couple of comments from band members about being `old men` and how amazed they were to be still doing tours of that size in 2008.
Look at them now, really old men i guess is there take now and still doing huge tours in 2025, amazing really . It only went to consolidate the thought i want to catch them every year they play live if i can now until they are done.

Same here. Even if they´re not coming to Belgium I´m planning to travel to see them.
Same, we will travel to catch them if we can if the UK has no dates. I hope they announce soon as my wife is keen to get some idea what the 2026 holiday plans look like!

Idk what this is (champions of National Album Day), but the comments by Bruce and Rod are worth it:

Bruce: ''Albums matter. They always have, not just to MAIDEN but to all of the bandmembers that have done solo projects. None of them have just toured — they have always recorded and released product too, especially me!! The rush of first seeing the vinyl or the CD or back in the day the cassette for the first time never leaves you, and it's great that fans are coming full circle to enjoy the totemistic experience that was lost for a while in this digital era''.

Rod: ''Back in the day, and before the Internet made the smallest snippet of conjecture about a band into global news, we had to rely on the release of a new album to do the heavy lifting for us. It would herald new music, of course, but also launch a tour, market the band to a wider audience with the title and the cover and — the bit I always loved — birthed a new Eddie! When things really exploded for MAIDEN back in 1982, with 'The Number Of The Beast', the band were still finishing the album right up to going out on tour to promote it! They were different times and an amazing experience to connect with our fans''.

... now prove those words by releasing a new album sooner!

So 2027 is a no touring year for Maiden. Very surprising.

Could this mean recording the new album in early 2027 and releasing it in September of the same year with a tour starting in 2028. Like TBOS? Or recording in fall 2027 with a 2028 release.

Or releasing it in 2028 (but it should early or in the summer), if they don't want in the same year. Bruce will probably release his solo album in March 2027 (3 months for Maiden to write and record before that) with a longer summer tour (April/May-August).

Well, let's hope so. But I have mixed feeling about everything right now.

My initial thought is that maybe this is a do-over from what they couldn't do in 2020 - repeat the Legacy of the Beast tour with the twist of an new/unreleased song. Though I remember that material had WOTW painted on a wall, but then again I don't see anything unknown or out of order on the new poster.

That's what I thought exactly. If they are not touring in 2027, the one thing that's left to do is to record a new album, and they will have plenty of time for it. It will be 8 years since Senjutsu recording sessions by then, and I am sure they will have too many musical ideas, riffs, and melodies gathered over the years. Enough to record and release two albums back to back (probably won't happen but hoping and dreaming anyway...). At least, I think it will be a double album like TBOS/Senjutsu, with 3 - 4 long /very long epics.
