18th Studio Album discussion

I honestly think we won’t get a new Maiden album.

I think most of the band are done. Not with music but they’ve been doing the Maiden thing for a long time now I just don’t think they have the interest in a new album.

It’s not just writing a bunch of new songs it’s all the stuff that goes into creating a new Eddie and the marketing and then planning a themed tour around the new album. There’s a lot involved and I just don't think they want to do it.

Bruce and Adrian seem more energised about their solo stuff, Steve has British Lion, Dave is the one most likely to want to just slip off into retirement, Nickos done now and as for Janick; not really sure if he’ll do something musical or just enjoy his retirement.

The more I think about it the more this run for your lives tour seems like a farewell tour without actually calling it a farewell tour. I mean, they’ve gone all out with the screens, their playing stadiums, the set list draws from their classic albums with 6 of the 9 albums having their title tracks played. It just screams farewell tour.

It feels like the perfect way to draw a close to the band to be honest. I can’t see how they will top this tour.

I don’t think this the absolute end for Maiden but after this tour I think they’ll announce an end to touring and the most we’ll see is one off shows and festival headlining and then maybe a few vault releases.

Agreed. I do not think they will be releasing a new Maiden studio album. As you correctly point out, it is too much work.

Yeah, they probably won't. And it's kinda fitting, I've lived through one 'Arry's obvious swansong closing the album already (WTWWB) now being surpassed by Hell on Earth and I don't feel like he really needs to write any further post scripta.

Besides, I thought a new album is kinda unlikely ever since the announcement they're replacing Nicko - I'm not saying anything definite, but lately I'm more and more inclined to trust the gut feeling more. I think that's it, although they can always surprise me.

I would surprised if we get another album. It is clear that they are in the latter stages of their career. Although a more album would be nice, I think touring is the priority now. Part of me also likes the thought of Hell on Earth being their final song.

Still, I won’t complain if another album drops.
If nothing bad happens there will be another album for sure. And steve has said before the can go to a semi retirement and record albums.what we can see is that they dont want to stop.

That being said, I do not think we’ll get a new Maiden studio album as the band members seem to have other priorities.
It may seem so, but I still believe. Both can exist.
Honestly, I don't think a new album will come in 26 or 27. I see 3 possible outcomes:
1. The current tour ends in 2026 and the next tour is a reunion era + some hits tour.
2. The current tour continues in 2027 and they change a bit the setlist with other 80s tracks.
3. A combination of the 2 mentioned outcomes. A new tour in 2027 with half 80s half reunion like the Legacy (maybe no Blaze era stuff).
A new album could be combined with all the 3 options, actually, but I don't think they really want to make a new album, if I'm being honest.
The next 2-3(at the very latest) years are crucial for a new album.

1- two Hits tours in a row? I really doubt it.
2- possible.
3- so the same as #1? New album combined with Part 2 and some mandatory hits... not sure, but why not.

They need a theme for a tour, that's for sure.

Do you really think they changed the drummer after so long for just 1 tour? 2-3 months per year(at most) for all the old bands now is possible. The drummer and vocalist are key. Steve has ruled out retirement for now and remember his thought about semi-retirement but still releasing albums. Who knows. Bruce and recently Adrian said that they like to be creative. They always plan around a new tour (stage, themes,), so it's no different work with a new album. Bruce will do the promotion and ready. Recording time is a bit more complicated to say now. And because they're unlikely to change their habits. Writing isn't too much work for them. The whole process isn't that big of a work for Maiden, methinks. Timing is everything. The whole situation is unprecedented now because of Nicko.

They don't need to top the current special tour. Songs-wise is tough (although not impossible with more rare cuts) and while there is no upgrade to the screens, they've had equally amazing stage sets over the years.

I can't imagine them just playing the same hits/80's songs on every tour. Ofc they can mix Reunion songs, but they need to make a statement with a new album, if you will, now after the rejuvenating with the live band. That's how I feel. I still think Steve and Bruce have more to say, SJ proved they have the ideas.

Folks have been nay-saying a new album for 15 years now, ever since 2010's album was called "The Final Frontier" and was the 15th album. The band do not want to stop. They're revved up with the new drummer and performing better than they have in a few years. They sound great and they could sound even better in the studio. I firmly believe in an 18th album and I believe Simon will be the drummer.

Or they won't....it'll definitely be one of the two.

Meanwhile, I firmly believe they have no intention to enter the studio any time soon. People are living in the phase of new tour hype where they're totally rejuvenated and ready to record as soon as time allows - despite evidence to the contrary like early next year being once again dedicated to solo projects if Adrian's recent announcement is any indication.

If they truly wanted to record, they would. Instead they spend a few months on tour each year and dedicate the rest to their personal lives and solo projects. I don't see any indication they're about to change this approach.

The Covid pandemic messed up the album rhythm, hopefully not at the expense of 18. Had Senjutsu been released as expected in 2020 I really think we’d have another by now.

As it stands, not only has Nicko retired but they lost 2 years of touring and then felt compelled to compete Legacy.

Now, it feels 50/50 whether they go for another album. I just wish it won’t be a double album. They are only going to produce less and less concise songs the older they get…

Loved the comment about the two Harry swan song codas already, Hell on Earth and Wild Wind

2026 second leg of this tour and start of thr recordings. Imposible 2 greatest hits tour in a row.
SJ proved they still can record very good nusic.

Steve has mentioned before that he wouldn't mind continuing recording albums after retiring from touring.

Bruce mentioned that they thought about going into the studio during the pandemic but decided against it.

Simon seems to have invigorated the band, they look like they're having a blast on stage.

Given all that I'd be very surprised if Senjutsu stays their last album.

I see the band in good form. And bruce moving less, his voice more strained but its the one who force the most his body. 67? The others plug their guitars and they can sound as good as 85. Still a good show.
Check Guns n roses or wasp shows....that is people in their 60s who should retire

Playback? I saw blackie singing half of the song and playing less than half of the song
I don't know, all the vids I've watched from this year's tour seem playback to me, except the first verse of Wildchild (or another hit, I'm not sure) that he clearly sings that live, because it's way worse
