Official thread for Final Frontier discussion

Re: Discussion thread for Final Frontier/El Dorado single I like the new album art, love the new song, and really love the single artwork. Can't wait for August now! Probably won't make it to Japan till 2011 though......

Flight 666 Double DVD Out This May!

Fair enough. It's just i'd seen a number of secondhand quotes from Sam and others, saying that they'd be loads of extra stuff on the DVD as they had so much footage. I guess the "loads of extras" is covered by a complete concert but just a little disappointed that all the time an effort we...

Flight 666 Double DVD Out This May!

So it seems there are no "extras" on any of the DVD/BluRay editions? Dammit. I was interviewed for the film and I heard from a friend that we didn't make the final cut, but I had hoped that we'd make it onto the extras part, as I imagined that they had far more footage than can be shown in a...

    Full length Iron maiden Documentary

My wife and I were interviewed in Japan for the movie so I'm nervously waiting with baited breath to see if we made the final cut. Unlikely given the sheer amount of material I'm sure they had,  but I will wet myself several times over with excitement if we do make it. If not then maybe the...

Shrieving.......but the sins are small to moderate

I'm not sure if this is of any help to the discussion but I remembered reading something about merch in one of Rod's old diaries, and so I just went and found the quote from his Tokyo diary in 2006: "I went out and checked merch – again it is all produced here as you can’t ship in, as taxes are...

Shrieving.......but the sins are small to moderate

Hermit, you beat me to it!  Yes, that's significantly cheaper then Japan. I guess, as others have said, people pay the prices so they don't change them.  I'm willing to bet though, that they make more money through "merchandise bought per person" in Japan than any other country in the world. ...

    2008 merch

No correction needed as you are right.  There were no Japan-specific shirts available.  It didn't really matter though as I seem to remember that by the end of the Tokyo show, almost all of the merch has been sold (and they brought a LOT of stuff to Japan with them).

Bruce: "Tokyo Concert Filmed For Upcoming DVD"

Firstly, enough with the outdated stereotypes.  Yes, Japanese fans may not be as crazy as those in say Brazil, but the crowds at both Japanese shows this tour were FAR from just "politely clapping".  Bruce said on stage at the Tokyo show that it was his favourite show in all his years of coming...

Questions about LAD DVD and possible problem

Finally picked up a U.S. copy last Friday so was able to give it a good watching over the weekend.  Great timing for the upcoming Japanese shows! It truly is a wonderful package.  The LAD disk is great, with Martin Birch's stereo track sounding better than ever, and the picture looking...

Questions about LAD DVD and possible problem

I'm really looking forward to getting this.  But the Japanese release was delayed until the 14th of February.  Only a day before their first show here. I remember Behind the Iron Curtain video, it was the first Maiden video I bought.  I'm really looking forward to watching the extended version...

    28th October 2006 - Tokyo International Forum - Japan

Just got back from the Forum show.  Show details pretty much as per the Budokan show really, same set etc etc. The Forum was probably about 80% full, with the whole of the first floor and about half of the smaller second floor (at least when I went up to have a look about 15 mins before Maiden...

    25th October 2006 - Tokyo Budokan - Japan

Hey Forostar. No, don't know anyone down in that neck of the woods.  A few more Budokan related things for those interested. Here's a link to a floor map of the venue: http://t.pia.co.jp/kaijo/map_plain/NBDO.htm I was in the second floor/upper tier area in the South East stand (near the...

    25th October 2006 - Tokyo Budokan - Japan

It looks like I was wrong on the capacity of the Budokan.  It's official capacity is listed as around 14,000 but from reading Rod's diaries he seems to think it's 8,000 (and if anyone would know how many people were there it would be him!).  I forgot to figure that a third or so of the seating...

    25th October 2006 - Tokyo Budokan - Japan

Literally just got back from Maiden's show at Tokyo's Budokan.  What can I say, 14,000 Japanese fans went nuts (by Japanese standards) for the entire show. Lauren Harris opened the show but pretty much played as most people were still entering the venue (including myself) so I only saw the last...

    Ghost of the Navigator

Re: 'ghost Of The Navigator' This is very true.  The drumming on this track also deserves a special mention - sublime kick work from Nicko, which really shines on the Rock In Rio version.  You can see his face is one of total concentration as he plays the main verse drum part, which shows just...
