    Helloween & Gamma Ray

do either of the Unisonic albums count as power metal? Because I remember when the band first came out they really stressed the idea that they were making “rock” music, as opposed to power metal or metal in general. but after quickly glancing through both Unisonic albums, there’s a lot of songs...

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Virtual XI is one of Maiden's best albums.

    Judas Priest

I want them to do what Maiden did, and allow themselves to be more 'prog', in other words worry less about song structures and lengths. Like Maiden, Priest don't need to worry about the fanbase because it's massive enough and we'll all buy whatever they put out. I'm talking more songs in the...

    Maiden Should Tour With....

What band would you like to see Maiden tour with? I'd love to see them go on a tour with Helloween. I guess co-headlining tour would be out of the question, although maybe not in Germany, or Japan. But it would be awesome because a lot of people like me put Helloween right up there with Iron...

    Dream Theater

Kevin Moore would be awesome to bring back right now. And good point about bringing in another producer. They could use that to refresh things. I think Charlie Beaufort would be a good and interesting choice.

    Queensryche & Geoff Tate

Condition Human is an awesome album. This is definitely not progressive metal, just metal. And its great. I get the feeling they've never really tried to be prog unlike Dream Theater. As I said earlier, CH is a classic metal album. I want to see them back on top. They used to be one of the big...

    Dream Theater

I think they should let Mike Portnoy rejoin the band. It's a shame. He is co creator of DT and they wouldn't even let him back. I don't like Jordan having so much influence on the writing.

Adrian Smith - Michael Kiske (+ Kai Hansen) collaboration (1996)

But at the time it seems like it would have been a natural move for Kiske and Adrian at least to form a band. I think that could have been huge, don't you?

    Helloween & Gamma Ray

I would love to see Kiske sing or at least join in on some Deris songs. There's some great stuff they never play live that they should pull out because Kiske would sound great and some are very classic Helloween power metal. Songs like Salvation, If A Mountain Could Talk, Final Fortune...

    Judas Priest

I loved it. Sounded just like Judas Priest to me. I would love if the next album is in the style is songs like Walls of Valhalla and Sword of Domocleus. they were my favorite, and actually kind of Maiden-ish. Amazing guitar harmonies.

    Helloween & Gamma Ray

Based on samples, it sounds like Kai continues to blatantly rip off other artists. Sometimes it's just so obvious with him.

Things about Iron Maiden that annoy you

I wish they'd write more shorter, faster songs with great harmonic guitar intros, which made them so influential to their metal descendants. Don't get me wrong, I love their new more progressive stuff, but nowadays their "short rockers" are not the same as the way they used to do them.

    Helloween & Gamma Ray

I haven't heard the new Gamma Ray singer yet, but I think it's really lame they've done that. He'll apparently be on the next album too. At this it's just a weird move, and vocalist changes are a very risky thing. Kai's voice is the sound of Gamma Ray.

    Queensryche & Geoff Tate

Does an album like Tribe contribute to their reputation as a progressive metal/rock band? Because it's a very different album for them, and isn't that what being progressive is all about?

    Blind Guardian

I just can't really get into Blind Guardian. Yet I love their sound, very unique brand of power metal. I'm kind of surprised they're not considered the new Iron Maiden. But I'm just not a huge fan. Especially the new album, just can't get into it.

Fates Warning + Arch / Matheos

I've never listened to FW until recently when I got a copy of Darkness In A Different Light. I find it very generic. Perhaps I need to listen to it more. But right now, FW is just not exciting to me.

    Queensryche & Geoff Tate

That's a good explanation. They're definitely not like DT prog. Although I'd argue some of their early stuff like Rage reminds me of Awake.

    Powerwolf

I recently discovered this band. Powerwolf are a German metal band, power metal more specifically. I love how they utilize religious and occult themes in their music. I don't know whether or not they're mocking this stuff or not. I love their sound because it's so powerful. They don't have a...
