At least Maiden know their market, 3 arena shows Auckland, Adelaide and Brisbane and being more ambitious with stadiums in Sydney and Melbourne

I think it might be a case of Spark Arena holds 12k, if you play Go Media stadium and even double that then it's a success. Unlikely to sell it out but they could still get a NZ attendance record at the same time.

There is a brand new venue in Christchurch opening soon with a capacity of 30k, not sure they will skip the biggest city and do a one off there though.

Yeah, and if they pulled off 25k per show that would still be a success, basically playing to more people over 3 shows than 7 arena dates. Essentially less work for bigger or worse case similar numbers.

Obviously nothing confirmed until the dates are dropped, but it might be a case of what I said earlier, they don't feel they could pull off a stadium show in NZ, but condensing Aus stadiums in just 3 cities they might do better and rely on travel.

Rumors are coming in there will be 3 Australian shows and no NZ dates, if this ends up being true it shows their commitment to wanting to being a stadium band moving forward

If Maiden play any of those stadiums they won't come close to selling them out, but they likely would think if they can set records for those cities it's still a win. Like if they pull off 30k in Melbourne, that will be more than 2 arena shows there.

From memory Tool had Asian dates booked and for months everyone was commenting "where is Australia" and eventually it was announced they are headlining Good Things with 2 side shows in NZ, so yeah doesn't have any impact logistically really. And it's guarenteed money for the band regardless.
