Iron Maiden Survivor 2012: Rime wins

Re: Iron Maiden Survivor III: AMOLAD round 1 (Nov 30 - Dec 1) Six votes for Lord of Light? That's one of the two best songs on the album IMO.

    Revelations

This song is simply amazing. Bruce's performance here is epic, dripping with emotional force. The lyrics are cryptic and subtle, and work all the better for that. Bruce really seems to have a lot of effort into this song. The guitar work is also excellent here, with some suitably beautiful...

    Drifter

Lyrics aren't anything special here, especially on the studio version, but great energy, and I like the riff. 7/10

    Twilight Zone

This one is firmly in the "meh" category for me. Paul's voice grates annoyingly throughout the song, balancing out the rather decent main riff. 5/10.
  9. Viperlord

    Purgatory

Crazily chaotic rocker, with great work from all the instruments here, and Paul nails this song. 9/10.
  10. Viperlord

    Prodigal Son

Very good song. Paul once again shows the softer side of his voice to great effect, and this combined with the acoustic guitar creates a very atypical atmosphere here. The song doesn't crack the realms of brilliance for me yet, but perhaps it eventually will. 8/10
  11. Viperlord

    Killers

Simply awesome song. Paul is snarling with a absolutely delightful vengeance throughout the song, the bass is excellent, Clive is also noteworthy here, and the guitars are great. 10/10
  12. Viperlord

    Innocent Exile

This song is just okay for me. Nice bass, but Paul does nothing for me here, and the instrumental section is pretty decent. 6/10
  13. Viperlord

    Genghis Khan

This song is a roller-coaster of tempo changes and Clive's superb drumming creates vivid imagery of Mongol hordes stampeding across the steppe plains. The change to a steadier pace followed by the wailing guitar just absolutely sells this one, and the song rolls to a subdued end as Ghengis goes...

Forostar's Top 50 Iron Maiden songs

Re: Forostar's Top 50 Iron Maiden songs *Chucks rotten apple* Witchcraft! Blasphemy! Stone the heretic! I kid, I kid. I'd have it higher in all likelihood, but nice to see a list that doesn't have Hallowed in the top 5 for once. And Dance of Death is an excellent song, another good choice.  :ok:

    Another Life

Nice song, not among the best from the album, more of a cheerful vibe to it with that nice groove. 7/10
  16. Viperlord

    Murders in the Rue Morgue

This song is a hell of a rocker. Paul's delivery is great here and Steve and Clive provide a nice rhythm for this rampant song. This song has energy in abundance, and Paul's voice suits it extremely well. 9/10
  17. Viperlord

    Wrathchild

Great basswork here from Steve, nice energy, fun live song. 8/10.
  18. Viperlord

    The Ides of March

7/10. Nice little instrumental piece, love the marching vibe, not long or special enough to merit higher than a 7 for me.

Iron Maiden Survivor 2012: Rime wins

Re: Iron Maiden Survivor III: Brave New World round 2 (Nov 16-17) Alexander, The Nomad, Out of the Silent Planet.

    Sanctuary

Compared to the other songs on the album, this one just doesn't do anything for me, and I'd never go out of my way to listen to it. 5/10
