We're past the halfway in round 1 and I don't think it surprised anyone that Fear of the Dark-the title track won the last part. It was nice to see ATSS and JBMG (though unexpected for me) were among the favourites.
On this part, we're moving into the Blaze Bayley era of the band. Of the two...
Even though I voted for Powerslave too, I think Rime is equally great. Also Childhood's End is no way a forgettable song for me. However, I'm sure it would be a boring forum if we all thought/liked/preferred the same. You shared your opinion and I respect... Thanks for your contribution amigo!
Fear of the Dark….a song that has deservedly become a classic and a live staple. Afraid to Shoot Strangers or Childhood’s End are almost equally great for me. Unfortunately I got only 1 vote.
Part 8 was the toughest competition so far, with every song in NPFTD receiving votes and the distribution of votes were somewhat balanced compared to previous abums. The winning title track received only %22 of the votes (...and just to compare; Powerslave lost with %35.1 in part 5 !).
This...
I've seen No Prayer ranked as the worst IM album couple times on other sites and you may be right; I saw VXI too. That's why I said "Probably". However if it comes to my personal choices, Killers is the worst, and Dance of Death is the best (followed closely by TBOS) for me. As for SSOASS or...
Infinite Dreams.... that was another surprise for me. An average song (IMO) that I very rarely listen to, was voted as the best in part 7; leaving TETMD and the title track far behind. Anyway, we are moving into 90s now...
From the highest ranked to the probably lowest ranked album... Time for...
Man, that was a surprise! The winner was "Caught Somewhere in Time" in part 6. I never knew it was loved that much. (ATG or WY was my guess; even HCW would not surprise me so.)
OK...It's the Champion's turn now...The winner of the album vs. album competition (and arguably the most loved)...
Heaven Can Wait is what I voted for. I wonder if it will get any other votes...ATG would be second choice but IMO these two are inferior compared to the "two greats" in Powerslave.
Unsurprisingly, majority of the votes went to "two greats" ROTAM and Powerslave, with Rime winning (with 1 more vote only) in part 5. It seems they are the songs mainly responsible for the love for Powerslave album, with considerable help from Aces High, and some / a little from the rest. And...
Sorry, rules are rules; and there is no exception unless they both get the most and same amount of votes. Killers is nowhere around the greatness of Children of the Damned for me, but you know the results...
Rime or Powerslave... It would be much easier if Dave didn't have those solos in Powerslave...I don't know which one I would choose tomorrow but today my vote goes to Powerslave. Second vote would be Rime of course.
Revelations was the winner in round 4; The Trooper, To Tame A Land and Where Eagles Dare were among the favourites. No surprises so far...
Today it's Powerslave...considered by too many as the best album of the band. Now let's see which song(s) is/are mainly responsible for this fame. I guess...
The best solo comes from Adrian (TWOTW), however, I think Janick and Dave's solos are better throughout the album. My favs:
Janick- Death of the Celts, The Time Machine, The Parchment (all 3), outro on Darkest Hour
Dave- The Parchment, Darkest Hour
