    Cash well spent my man!

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

I was most surprised during the gig when Steve began playing the bassline of The Clairvoyant. Especially so late in the set list. Moonchild and The Clairvoyant…two deep cuts back to back during the encore was pretty dam amazing. I was expecting TETMD at that point (which I was happy to hear on...

What are your plans for your first Senjutsu "listening party"?

Trooper ale? I’m ordering some today.

Great reward! And congrats on knocking off a part of your thesis. Maybe your next essay can be a review of the album!

The MAIDEN Years: 2018/19/20/21/22/ad infinitum (Rock in Rio and Nights of the Dead)

Awesome review @Mosh , thanks. Love the way you liken the pairing of AMOLAD/TFF to SIT/SSOASS and I also place TFF fractionally below AMOLAD as their best album of the reunion era (so far). Only one contribution from my end…I like how the band recorded the album at Compass Point in the Bahamas...

@Josh happy to be considered a bad boy too. I am at peace with my questionable morals in regards to leaks. Enjoyed this review. I’m really intrigued to hear Lost in a Lost World. Wonder why Harry chose to separate this of his four epics and place it early in the track list…

Thanks mate. She’s stable now. What happened will make me appreciate Senjutsu (and life in general) even more. How great that we have new Maiden in our lives in a week’s time (or less depending on your views/morals on leaks?!
  8. The Mid-Distance Runner

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

I’m with you @Travis The Dragon . Have had quite a weekend already with a serious hospitalisation of a parent and I’m just ready to hear the album now (or next week, either way works fine). Of course I’d abide by the forums rules but feel no guilt whatsoever in listening to a leak until the...
  9. The Mid-Distance Runner

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

In the 80s when I saved up to buy vinyl (SSoASS or LAD being two purchases) I’d record the vinyl straight on to cassette/tape and then pretty soon it would be taped for another mate and another until the whole group had a copy. Then someone would buy another vinyl and we’d do the same thing...

Please post reviews and thoughts on Senjutsu here

Thanks for posting @Gk1 ! More positive descriptions of all songs. Google translate is brilliant. I wonder which muscle this refers to...the thigh?

The MAIDEN Years: 2018/19/20/21/22/ad infinitum (Rock in Rio and Nights of the Dead)

Mosh…firstly, thanks man. This thread of yours is so well written and thought out…alongside the two singles it has been the perfect build up to the new album release. Your critique of AMOLAD blew me away…it’s an album I love, my favourite Maiden release, and your summary nailed my thoughts too...
  12. The Mid-Distance Runner

What are your plans for your first Senjutsu "listening party"?

Absolutely!! We have at least another month of lockdown ahead which means a month of 100% solitude with the new album….I feel inappropriately happy for such times!!
  13. The Mid-Distance Runner

What are your plans for your first Senjutsu "listening party"?

I’m in the final stages of writing a 40-page assessment and will have finished the editing and submitted the final draft by the 3rd, so personally the album release date works perfectly. To be free to direct all attention towards the music without stress will be a nice reward after quite a busy...
  14. The Mid-Distance Runner

    New single: Stratego

That’s a great statement…nowadays Maiden. What do you mean by vamp key? Im really loving the solo now by the way. Janick articulates every note clearly and it’s jam packed with licks. I count 9. Nice tone. The whole song has a bit of darkness to it and the solo adds to that emotion. Kind of...
  15. The Mid-Distance Runner

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

Sorry DJ, had to correct your comment. I would agree with you 100% if Stratego had been released prior to 16 July.

@Perun The internet’s busiest music nerd.

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

I have preordered the silver vinyl too, but will open it. And listen to it LOUD. I love their long songs, anything 6+ minutes where they take you on a music journey. And therefore I do prefer TWOTW of the two singles. Having said that, the melodies and gallop of Stratego have made me smile...
  18. The Mid-Distance Runner

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

@Jadukor yeah, I read the Superfans review again this morning and his description of Stratego is pretty aligned with my own impressions, especially the imagery of the cloaked rider. So the fact his entire review is positive bodes well for a classic album (if our impressions align throughout).
  19. The Mid-Distance Runner

    New single: Stratego

That post-chorus… I hear you calling my name Come to claim my life again Pray for me I’m almost there The pain almost too much to bear …sounds so damn triumphant and epic.
  20. The Mid-Distance Runner

    New single: Stratego

I can definitely work with that…These Colours Don’t Run is a top five song for me!! :shred:
