So, by a lucky twist of fate, I managed to get my hands on Iron Maiden's upcoming 18th album, Pophouse Rules, and, oh boy, it's an absolute monster.
Soundwise, it's somewhere between Powerslave and Tyranny of Souls.
Lyrically, it's a semi-concept album about a band that sells its entire likeness to a giant corporation. As the centuries pass, their virtual avatars gradually become self-aware and begin questioning their own existence and purpose. After all, how long can you keep playing the same songs over and over again without ever having the right to compose new music?
It's a triumphant yet deeply melancholy finale. The avatars try to create music of their own, but fail, because they're nothing more than shadows - mere reflections of people long gone. So they keep touring the Universe for all eternity, forever trapped in the Chains of Misery, unable to break free.
...And somewhere, in front of another sold-out crowd orbiting Proxima Centauri, they begin Fear of the Dark once again - unable to remember why.
EDIT: Through a complicated series of events involving bribery and blackmail, I finally got hold of the real artwork for the upcoming Maiden album. @matic22 , do you believe now? The goodness that's coming our way is the real deal.

So, everyone on this forum wants Maiden to release a new album instead of taking a year off. Well, there is a way. An ancient recipe. Extremely powerful... but not easy to implement due to the stubbornness of certain parties involved, as well as the complexity and inherent danger of the required steps. To achieve the desired result, the following voluntary sacrifices and manifestations must be performed.
1. Blaze "The Messiah" Bailey must be restored to the ranks of Iron Maiden. During future concerts, he shall handle all the vocal heavy lifting, thanks to his mighty baritone voice.
2. Dennis "Chartbuster" Stratton must also return as the fourth Amigo in the guitar department. Together with Adrian, they shall make Iron Leppard rock like never before!
3. Having visualized the first two steps in great detail, the ritual performer must, at all costs, witness the final green flash of the setting sun over the sea. He must then be marked by a passing albatross. He shall indulge in excess and refrain from washing for forty days.
The easy part is now over.
4. The ritual performer must bring his daughter to the...
5. At the conclusion of the ceremony, he must gaze toward the horizon and witness a flock of flying pigs.
Only then shall Iron Maiden return to its formermorning glory.
There is also a sixth task. It simply reads: "Dawson must be replaced by some Lazarus." Scholars remain deeply divided on this point, however, and many consider it both unnecessary and non-canonical.
My part is done. Now it's your turn, my fellow Dissatisfieds.
As for me, I return to the dusty libraries and ancient monasteries... full of nuns who have very little fun.

Talking about Helloween i expect more from them than the 2 last albums. Both are ok,great music,great musicians but for me the last great helloween album is better than raw. Not really... If an idea strikes me (today it was an article about Helloween already having about 90% of their new album finished), I immediately start connecting the dots. "Oh, they have two singers... let's project that onto Maiden," and so on.
The biggest problem is when I'm stuck with a notepad instead of a computer. Typing all this quality material is much more of a hassle because the notepad app has a mind of its own. On a PC keyboard, it doesn't take much time at all.
