I don`t think some of the crowds help the atmosphere on occasion especially in a big venue if it isn`t full or if it`s a bit quiet. The seats in some of the gigs , not just maiden are like a library and that can`t help the band much. Madrid last year was a great gig and the full house loud as f..k crowd played a part for sure, will the San Siro be the same, i aren`t so sure.

They are old and they play great. Check gnr,wasp, metallica....metallica is great but lars is not like 90s lars anymore and james exactly the same. And they are younger. Gnr its just painfull to listen,horrible,not even one song is like it was suposed to be. Btw the stadiums are full. And about gnr that amaze me,because people say they dont sound like this on the stadium. I was there in 2017 and they did lol. I remember been thinking ,ok lets see if he cans sing estranged well...no, roquet queen ....and so and so. There are a lot of bands worst and younger,but maiden for me are still sounding maiden,different ok but maiden.

And bring back the old backdrops and eddie!

...these messages have vanishing relevance. Not because Maiden's done anything wrong, but because of the sheer duration of the reunion era, 27 years long and counting. I'm sure maiden thought they might get 10 or 15 years at most back with Bruce but here we happily are. I feel the messages need updating to reflect the band's vibe now. If it is hits tours into the sunset then so be it. But RFYL is the first time since 1999 that things have felt very different for me. It's the first tour that feels slightly 'corporate', but I'm not sure why I think that, and I'm being unfair given that it always was a business anyway.

Very interesting, thank you! And if now you were so kind sharing your thoughts and feelings what it all was/is that felt/feels very different about the current tour, if your time allows, that'd be just awesome! I kinda feel the same, it's just a bit difficult for me to get it down to the point or to put it words WHAT exactly feels different. But yes, it definitely does! Thank you!

Have they played Aces High as fast as in Hannover any previous time on the tour? Seems quite fast based on some videos, was this the case for other songs as well?

Just checked, San Siro standing is 175, plus likely 20ish Euros of Italian fees that noone understands. So, just shy of 200 Euros, which is stupid compared to other stadium dates, which are 100-120 Euros.

On the idea of why it feels different and maybe why people here in particular have mixed feelings, I wonder if it's just that this is a tour that doesn't feel like it's for us, it's for the casuals?

It doesn't have that underground, all in it together, Maiden feel.

The truth is we might just be in the final chapter for Maiden. They may not have much left to say or prove.

Long term fans like us can sense a change. There's no fire in the belly anymore. Nicko leaving has just amplified it all. Dawson's doing fine but if we're honest it's a major step down from a legitimate drumming legend in Nicko.

Anyway, that all sounds grim but the reality is they've been at the top for far longer than they had any right to and for the most part are still surprisingly good considering their age. If you're happy just to go along and be in their company for an hour or two to sing along then I suppose we're very lucky that's an option.

But it feels like we're firmly in the nostalgia zone now so it'll be interesting how they navigate that after decades of promising it'll never happen.

I'd say they' been in the nostalgia zone since Legacy of the Beast, not that it was a bad thing by that point. When the reunion happened they were still in their prime age wise so i totally understand the blurb around not being a cabaret act but by Legacy of the Beast they had earned that right.

Yeah we've been in that nostalgia bit for a while and it's definitely well earned. There's very little scope to do much outside of that space, nothing that they can currently point to that says they're still a vibrant creative force. That lack of potential makes it all feel a bit weird and melancholy to me.

Very true but it did at least feel like a proper Maiden tour if you know what I mean. But I suppose they've been a bit of a corporate monster for a long time, it's just moving away from new material and album tours makes it a bit harder to defend.

The main difference with Legacy of the Beast is that on that tour they covered their whole career. This time they are celebrating 50 years of music just playing stuff from 1980 to 1992!

I watched the video. I promised myself i will not watch any performances before I get to the concert (if I do), but I could not resist and watched the video. Anyway ID always held a unique special place in my heart somehow. I gotta say it was more powerful than I expected after reading all the bitching. I will have trouble to not piss myself when the intro melody with the bass in the back starts.

Also that "It's not the fear of what's beyond, it's just that I might not respond!" was fucking brilliant, a 100 percent delivery. Please be as good next Wednesday!
