Favourite (non-Maiden) albums by bandmembers

I don't think this is the proper interpretation of the thread lol.
Lol, true. Love the damn album so much that I didn't even read the original post. Some albums were expected some others not so much. I'm pretty much surprised that Blackie's #1 isn't something by The Who.

Hey @Forostar, this a great idea for a thread. I wonder if you sign in here much these days but whenever you do, it would be very kind of you if you could please rename it as "Iron Maiden's influences". I could have made a seperate thread but the discussion here is really in flow and it's aspect can be further broadened. Thanks!

This is a surprise.

But that said, The Extremist has amazing drum sound (courtesy of Gregg Bissonette and Andy Johns) and some of Satch's best tracks. While "Surfing" is the cult classic, I think Extremist would be the best overall Satch album.

Here are the originals (compressed). Unfortunately, I must have cut Janick's in order to use the picture on the verso. :(

They are taken from this magazine (I still have the companion CD):

If I'm not mistaken, unless there are pages missing on mine (but it doesn't seem so, I'll check again when I'll be back home) but Janick Gers was nowhere to be found about these questions (didn't have the time to add the ones for Blaze on my initial post though, thanks a lot for all the scans).

Steve liking the Black Album isn't surprising (the approach of clean sound, riffing and drums on it always reminds me of early Nightwish for some reason), he probably prefers that style to pure thrash. Bruce likes it too. I guess that's another reason why they did some songs in FOTD in different style to them.
Blaze's choice of albums here is definitely fitting for his roots and solo career.

I feel Dave genuinely likes VXI. Nicko really loves TNOTB.

Album covers choices: Nicko went with one of Maiden's most impressive, Dave's taste with the colorful and dreamy Yes covers from the 70s is cool, probably expected choice for Steve.

I really wish to see Janick's answers.

I'm not sure how true that is about Live and Dangerous being one of Bruce's favourites, as when they played Rosalie with the Entire Population of Hackney, Bruce announced it saying something along the lines of this is a song by an Irish band, but anyone who's ever heard Live and Dangerous would know that "this is a number recorded by Bob Seger"

Bruce's favorite 15 albums, from a new article. Some curious choices.
This article is cobbled together by other sources that aren’t cited so IDK how much I trust it. I’m pretty sure the quote about In Rock comes straight from his autobiography. When he made a list of his desert island discs some years back he included The Chemical Wedding as the album he was proudest of and I’m surprised it wasn’t mentioned here.

When Dream and Day Unite but as a matter of fact he loves both. Bruce took the album and some demos of what eventually was Images and Words to Nicko when they were getting ready to go and record Fear Of The Dark and said to him, "Have you listened to this band?" this is how we should sound in our next album...
What a strange remark from the singer of a prominent band! They must have their own sound.

Let's see if we can make an overview of albums mentioned by individual band members. Even if the member in question does not literally say favourite album, him mentioning it must mean he'd really like it a lot. PLEASE ADD (at some point I'll try to update this opening post)

Here we go:

Nicko McBrain
Saga - Worlds Apart (1981)
Saga is one of Nicko McBrain's favourite bands and their fourth album Worlds Apart (1981) is his all time favourite album by any band. He said this in a fanzine.

You were an artrock fan?

Yea, I mean I think the Genesis album Foxtrot and especially Supper´s ready is the best thing I ever heard in my life. It´s fantastic. As a piece of music it´s so far ahead of its time. Some might think the sound is dated. These are old albums, but to me this is great music. I love Jethro Tull, too. Thick as brick, Passion play and Aqualung are fantastic albums. A lot of that´s been slacked off so badly in the British press, but to me Ian Anderson is a genius. I think it´s sad when people slack off stuff like his. He got so upset that he decided not to play the U.K. for a long time. I think that´s a big mistake, cause it´s not the people, it´s the press
