MAGA wont be going anywhere soon, thats why they're empowering these thugs to murder
They are terrified of losing the midterms, because then some semblance of accountability will happen. That is why Pam Bondi wanted Minnesota to grant her access to Minnesota voting rolls etc so they can rig the election, in exchange for stopping the ICE murders. Trump stopped short of saying that in public. They want people to be too scared to vote, which is partly why they let these ICE thugs run rampant. Just laying down and take it will result in a permanent fascist dictatorship.

A bunch of hippies going out on the streets with handmade placards and "this is what [insert limp wristed slogan here] looks like" chants is just going to get these people murdered, won't stop anything.

This is exactly how liberty dies. Defaitism and just acceptance of living under fascist boots, because hey, nothing will make any difference.

And lots of people don't want to live like this, so they resist. A bunch of hippies my ass. Regular people, like you and me.

Sorry that came across differently than I intended, by hippies I meant decent peace loving people, basically in a mismatch going up against guys armed to the teeth, wearing body armour and knowing that they won't be punished if they show indiscipline.

At this moment in time resistance is only empowering Trump to say, "look at these guys, they're making martyrs out of themselves like Hamas" and his base are drinking the kool aid. The only way you get a movement that will topple a dictator is when there's enough people under his jackboot that they fight back. There isn't enough at the moment and there won't be until things start to get shit for his own support base.

And people are playing into his hands when he can still use the antifa bogeyman to gain more powers, and at the moment you're seeing a situation where murdering protesters is not being punished, and going out on the streets is either going to lead to a blow back against what's happening, or murdering by state forces becoming normalized. And I can see which way it's going at the moment.

Not justifying what's happened in anyway, but people out on the street now when these scum have been empowered to murder with impunity are incredibly stupid.
Stupid sounds kinda harsh but I get what you mean. It is dangerous. But it's also brave and necessary.
Look at Iran, where thousands of protestors have been killed by the regime. When people decide that is enough is enough and try to make their voices heard it results in death and suffering in most cases. But it's also the only way to fight for change. Simply rolling over and letting Trump and his goons do whatever they want isn't gonna help things either. People are being abducted and terrorized either way. Might as well go down fighting.

Which obviously is very easy for me to say, being on the other side of the planet and without having to risk my skin. I've attended a bunch of anti-AFD protests here, even some which turned violent, but I cannot say with a 100% certainty that I'd still go protesting once civilians end up killed by "law enforcement". So maybe it is hypocritical of me to hope that Americans rise to the occasion and fight back against their fascist regime.

But at the same time, what else are people supposed to do? Fascism is not sustainable and sooner or later everything will collapse. I don't think ICE and the current admin will ever end up facing any consequences, just look at how the people involved with Jan 6th were pardoned. But we can also see that the DHS's lies are too blatant. We have too many videos that show exactly what's happening on the ground. And the people are pissed. Independents are slowly turning against Trump. Far too late but things are finally unravelling. He might have the support of his loyal cult but the rest of the country hates him more and more with each passing day. MAGA obviously won't die with him but if the Midterms happen without too much GOP fuckery (big if) the Republicans might lose a lot of control and power.

Seems as if the killing of this gentleman was too egregious, too indefensible that it has triggered the inevitable TACO and Trump is backing down in Minneapolis.

I would also maintain that this whole ICE operation in the state was just slop for the diehard magaheads to gorge themselves on, they would rather see some performative 'owning of the libs' through brute force or other means than effective action. Obama for instance deported over 3 million during the course of his presidency and as far as I can remember he managed to do so without ICE gunning anybody down in the street.

In what has become another instance of a very predictable and embarrassing cycle, the maga fanboys fall over themselves to justify whatever Trump is doing and then are left with their faces in the mud when he invariably U-turns.

It should have happened after the first murder but a woman dying isn't seen as that big a deal to the maga scum. Kill a white guy who's carrying a legal firearm though? The 2nd amendment loons must have had an aneurysm trying to justify that.

The NRA pushing back, demanding a full, transparent investigation seems to have suddenly changed Trumps tune, can't upset the lobbyists now lol

Through the winter’s ice and cold
Down Nicollet Avenue
A city aflame fought fire and ice
‘Neath an occupier’s boots
King Trump’s private army from the DHS
Guns belted to their coats
Came to Minneapolis to enforce the law
Or so their story goes
Against smoke and rubber bullets
By the dawn’s early light
Citizens stood for justice
Their voices ringing through the night
And there were bloody footprints
Where mercy should have stood
And two dead left to die on snow-filled streets
Alex Pretti and Renee Good

Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
Singing through the bloody mist
We’ll take our stand for this land
And the stranger in our midst
Here in our home they killed and roamed
In the winter of ’26
We’ll remember the names of those who died
On the streets of Minneapolis

Trump’s federal thugs beat up on
His face and his chest
Then we heard the gunshots
And Alex Pretti lay in the snow, dead
Their claim was self defense, sir
Just don’t believe your eyes
It’s our blood and bones
And these whistles and phones
Against Miller and Noem’s dirty lies

Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
Crying through the bloody mist
We’ll remember the names of those who died
On the streets of Minneapolis

Now they say they’re here to uphold the law
But they trample on our rights
If your skin is black or brown my friend
You can be questioned or deported on sight

In chants of ICE out now
Our city’s heart and soul persists
Through broken glass and bloody tears
On the streets of Minneapolis

Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
Singing through the bloody mist
Here in our home they killed and roamed
In the winter of ’26

It's never a good sign when your country's folk music becomes protest music again.

Good for Bruce. Songs should be like newspapers when times call for it. Plus it's a very nice song.

Kid Rock is probably writing a pro ICE song as we speak.
I’m happy that there are conservative musicians, but are Kid Rock and Ted Nugent the best we can get?

Edit: Stranglehold is one of the best classic rock songs ever, though. I’m trying to find something positive to say about Kid Rock’s music, but Bawitaba Tobangbang Diddi ain’t it.
