I`m wondering if they will bring it to Europe too, i would try and get to see it for sure.

It was great to see the two of them having so much fun and looking genuinely excited to play the Rush stuff live again.

I can only imagine their amusement to find so many people finding it odd that two members of Rush touring the music of Rush with the blessing of the missing members family and paying tribute to him every night shouldn`t call themselves Rush anymore.

Probably the same people that call bands missing 1 or 2 members like Judas Priest a "tribute band" just because KK Downing and Glenn Tipton are not there anymore.

Rob and Ian are still there, Scott Travis has been there for 35 years and Richie for 15 years and played in three albums.

Last time I checked tribute bands have 0 original or classic lineup members.

I don't disagree with them using the name, but is a little strange, though. It seems the reason Rush retired is because of Neil, so even if his family have given their blessing, it's not hard to wonder if Neil were still alive, would he really have wanted to return to Rush? And you can't even say "if Neil were still here he'd have wanted them to carry on", 'cause they retired five years before he passed.

Like everything it can be dissected to death but we will never know what Neil would have said or if he would have played or blocked a 50+ year celebration tour so it`s a bit futile. It`s a milestone tour though not just an off the cuff money making tour.

I think the fact that they want tour as Rush is completely normal given who they are and what they will be playing.

They aren`t the only band to tour minus an original member albeit i take the point they were retired prior to his death.

I’m signed up for TicketMaster presale on Sunday 2 days from now so I’ll find out the price for the New York shows soon.
I’ve seen them live about a dozen times between the Hold Your Fire tour and the Test for Echo tour.
They are my lifelong favorite band but in all honesty I think Power Windows in 1986 was their last great album.
But every Rush concert is a great experience and weirdly somehow they’ve grown in popularity since their last tour.
I’ll probably pick up a couple of tickets for one of the MSG shows but I’ll be very carefully paying attention to the set lists once the shows start.

According to folks who got tickets at the Citi card presale today, the worst seats in the house are running $175-195 depending on the city.

Really sucks.
Yeah that’s real money.
Here’s the sad truth: in the 80s and 90s when I was young and broke I would have sold my soul to see Rush. And I often spent myself into debt to do so.
Now I’m old and can afford it but I’m just not sure I care enough to schlep into NYC for the show.
Other than seeing Maiden last October I haven’t been a large concert guy in a long time.

You`ll get a lengthy setlist for your money though on a positive note.

That is true. I remember thinking after I saw Rush live in 2011: “Why can’t Maiden do something similar and play these long setlists?”

This was their setlist when I saw them:

And this is what Maiden played at the same venue less than a couple of months later:

I’m hoping they actually have some reasonably priced seats in the general on sale (nothing like milking the hardcore fans in the presale). If not, guess I’m waiting til the week of for those ticket deals.
