Iron Maiden News, Links, and Interviews

Well, Lemmy could scare off the reflection from a mirror, yet I've seen a not negligible amount of women in the audience...

Lemmy was an exception, but my mother really did have a poster of him.
Not because of his looks, but as a feminist icon. Yes, maybe not everyone has heard of this angle. But it's the truth.

I had written that Rod couldn't give his band Maiden an image as heartthrobs, but giving them that angle Rod was unable also.

Seemed like it. It’s kinda interesting though, I feel like the Maiden artwork hasn’t had the same sense of continuity since Riggs. It will be kinda weird if they go with a different art direction than the Mark Wilkinson style (both the plain Eddie against black background and the more detailed inner sleeve art). Imo Wilkinson has become the second most identifiable Maiden artist.
Sense of continuity with empty backgrounds... wow. Whoever the artist is, I think they'll go with the same approach as the last 2 covers, unfortunately.
For me BOS and SJ its like the band wanted to create again the first 2 ablums cover. Iron maiden and killers
Yeah, cool, but just the poses. I like the originals, but I love their inner sleeve artworks! Some of Maiden's best and a favorites of mine.
Yup! That's a really cool parallel. It would be interesting if a new album would emulate The Number Of The Beast's cover.
Another figure besides Eddie? I doubt it. Tbh, I expect something a bit different this time, more or less. I mean, why not like the new tour. And 3 of the Reunion albums have.

More the general silhouette than actually having other figures on there. Senjutsu had a similar (but distinct) shape as Killers, without the latter's victim for example.

Nicko McBrain claims he can't be replaced in Iron Maiden - Music News | Music
So, I think Nicko is a little jealous this tour. He sounded malicious to me.

There's absolutely zero malice there. Nicko is known for constantly cracking jokes and you can practically hear his laughs and smiles when reading this interview. And of course he can't be replaced, he has his very own style. They didn't look for a Nicko clone (sorry Joe Lazarus), they deliberately chose someone who has a different style.

I'm sure Nicko would've preferred to be in good health and continue being part of this tour, but I can guarantee you there's no bad blood between him, Simon and the band.

Let's hope you are right!

Thanks for sharing. It seems he listed the shows that had some impact on him or the band.

Rod: ''I always wanted Maiden to be a hugely successful international band. When Blaze came into the band and we were planning touring, I wanted to start somewhere where we wouldn’t really get any media – to give Blaze a good shot at doing a few shows before you’re subjected to the opinions of the critics. It was clear to me that it was working with Blaze. It wasn’t the same, obviously, but the shows went very well. There was never any talk of the band splitting when Bruce left. Maiden will always carry on''.
