RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Ah that's good I got the impression he couldn't play the clairvoyant intro anymore from some nerd on Reddit
I have to double check on youtube, but first night in Budapest I thought the intro was sloppy as hell.

And that little bass solo thing in the middle of Iron Maiden..

Great performance. Man, I want spring/summer 2026 to get here now...
Yes, Clive's songs are great for him. And I think he played Phantom even faster earlier in the tour. The Arnhem show was very strong.

edit: yep, the Arnhem show must be one of the best from the tour. Aces too, even Bruce is happy and jokes with Adrian and Dave. This channel has videos with quite good sound.

Some of my post-concert thoughts for Arnhem.

The setlist is pretty well thought out and clever. I especially enjoyed the dynamics. There's a long, general buildup towards the high Bs and above in the vocals, which is an important aspect of what makes this setlist resemble a musical composition.

Bruce is still unbelievable. He was struggling after 2015, could still sing the high notes, but his timbre was gone. Already last year, I felt like his voice had healed, and on this tour, he's even better.

Among the three guitarists, Dave is my man. He played some beautiful solos, with a lot of life experience and soul.

Simon's drumming is very different, but he understands Steve, that's obvious. I suspect the two of them practiced the Maiden stuff together before the tour as well. Has Simon talked about how he prepared for the tour? He was especially great in the more intricate stuff like "Rue Morgue" and "Phantom", but he's not quite as fluent as Nicko yet. The drums were also too loud and boomy, especially the bass drum and the toms. This drowned out Steve, who had a somewhat hollow sound. And I miss the ride.

But it was too loud in general. Too fucking loud! And the acoustics weren't great either. I'm one of the few people who prefer Maiden to play outside, where they always sound better.

I bought the event shirt. The shirt's main part, indicating its event-ness, looks great, but it's on the back. I wish it was on the front, with no picture on the back. I even tried to wear it the other way around, but it doesn't work! (So sad.)

Overall: Sorry if I focused too much on the negatives. I think Maiden are at a peak at the moment, performance-wise.

I've heard Maiden outside and inside and I will say when they are inside a quality pair of earplugs has made all the difference for hearing them well in an arena.

I agree that the sounds in the Gelredome is pretty crap and when I saw Maiden last month at Graspop the sound was better. Have you seen them in the Ziggo Dome before? The sound there is much better and that venue was obviously designed for live music. I had decided never to go the Gelredome again after seeing Rammstein there in 2001 and have been to see Maiden in Belgium and Germany in the meantime, but I decided to give it a go and see them twice this tour. At least it was not as crowded as it was with Rammstein and could easily get quite close to the stage.

It was pretty loud indeed. I had the feeling that live show volumes in larger venues were going down a bit over the past decades, but since about 10 years ago it seems to be reversing again.

I sure hope everyone is doing (decent) earplugs. Every time I see maiden I wear them, and just for fun I take them out briefly to check the sound quality with and without the plugs.

They go right back in and I think ‘I can’t image anyone not wearing earplugs! They sound so much better!’

Not to mention the whole not wanting to go deaf thing.

Agreed, though at the same time I cringe whenever I see someone with the yellow/orange foam ones. Ew. What are you doing.

At least that's better than nothing. Depending on the location you might still get a better sound with those because they filter enough of the worst frequencies out.

On my last concert I saw a bunch of people who took toiled paper from the bathrooms and used that to make makeshift ear plugs. I wonder how effective, if at all, those were. First time I saw something like that.

A cautionary tale.

I never thought to wear earplugs at concerts or when playing or practicing with the bands I was in long ago. I also listened to music way too loud with headphones for decades.

Although I’ve ceased such behavior, now mid-middle-aged, I struggle with intermittent tinnitus that seems to last longer as I age. Cause and effect unclear but high decibel exposure in my youth couldn’t have helped.

No fun. Look after your hearing.
