    The Future Past tour 2023

Given SiT's Blade Runner theme that could work i.e. a futuristic cityscape but with lots of Japanese touches in it, like the Japanese writing etc. from Blade Runner.

A lot of people saying CSiT is a bridge too far for the band because of how slow Aces High was this year. I don't think CSiT poses the same physical challenges as Aces High. It's not as fast (although it is longer). EDIT: Am also finding it incredible that the people who think the band can't...

Right but all those songs are from their 1970s heyday. Of the songs that are regularly played in their setlist, only 2 are from post 1980 (and one of those is from 1981). How often do they pull out a song from post 2000, or even post 1991? How many AC/DC albums are there where no songs have ever...

I think this will turn out to be pretty close to the mark. I can't see what they would replace Senjutsu and/or WOTW with from that album. I can't see them opening with anything other than Caught Somewhere in Time, apart from *maybe* DoFP. If they were to not play CSiT then I can't see what the...

    Hints collection thread for 2023

Somewhere in Time is the most underrated and overlooked of their 80s albums. If they were combining it with a 40 year anniversary tour of PoM, or the rerelease of Beast over Hammersmith and a NotB themed tour then I could believe it. I don't think the mere act of revisiting an older album makes...

    Hints collection thread for 2023

If people are right about the "Cyborgs 5 Samurai 5" sign in the promo meaning 5 songs from each album then I can believe it. I can't see what else the 5th song from SiT would be, apart from maybe Sea of Madness, but I find that harder to believe than AtG. The 5 songs from Senjutsu would probably...

    Hints collection thread for 2023

I am completely over the moon. Somewhere in Time is the most overlooked/underrated of their 1980s albums imo, and it's amazing that it will finally get a (semi) dedicated tour. Senjutsu is now the first ever IM album not to be promoted with a dedicated tour. Having played at least 5 songs from...

Please post reviews and thoughts on Senjutsu here

Yeah I never have volume normalization turned on. It still just sounds a bit flat and not that great. Limitation of the format I guess.

Please post reviews and thoughts on Senjutsu here

I listened to it twice through last night on spotify and was a bit underwhelmed. I've just played it through on vinyl and it sounds a lot better. The album relies on shifting dynamics (from quiet to loud, loud to quiet) to sound dramatic and because streaming services equalise the volume levels...

    What guitar do you play?

I play a Jackson DK2M with an alpine white finish, maple fretboard, Floyd Rose locking mechanism and Seymour Duncan pickups. These need to be replaced though. My brother has a Fender Telecaster with a pair of songle coils that I play a fair bit. It's a lovely guitar but the single coils are no...

The MAIDEN Years: 2018/19/20/21/22/ad infinitum (Rock in Rio and Nights of the Dead)

Re: the absence of SiT songs on the SBiT tour - I was similarly aggrieved about SiT getting 0 representation on the LOTB tour. Nicko even had the SiT Eddie on his kit! I felt like Wasted Years would have fit the retrospective theme quite well, bit it was played on the BoS tour, I guess. TETMD...

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

I cancelled my Amazon pre-order when my local record shop told me they'd have it on the day. I'll be there when it opens, then go up the road to ASDA to get the limited edition beer and t-shirt.

The MAIDEN Years: 2018/19/20/21/22/ad infinitum (Rock in Rio and Nights of the Dead)

Flight 666 (the film and live album) were what got me in to Maiden. It's definitely better than LAD.

What are your plans for your first Senjutsu "listening party"?

I went to the record shop in my hometown today. I mean "record shop" literally - they exclusively sell vinyl records. Was very pleased to discover that since I had last visited they have moved to a much bigger premises. I haven't seen a shop like it in years! I asked if they were getting the...
