What isolated track of any Maiden song would interest you the most?

Dick Brucinson

Dave Sustaine
There's a few isolated tracks on YT to find already, and I also might upload the one or other sooner or later. Yesterday I got me a special tool for my recording studio, based on AI, and with that particular tool (basically used for mastering) it's possible to separate tracks and isolate instruments. I'm going to play around with it a lot to get into it over the next weeks, and if anybody of you has a request, let me know.

Is this a commercialised equivalent of the demixing software developed by Peter Jackson's company? They used this for the recent remix of The Beatles' Revolver in isolating every instrument from the mono master.

I'd personally like to have the entirety of TXF, including the B-Sides for the purposes of making it actually sound good.

I'd love to hear for Senjutsu (music with great and interesting layers), Starblind (because of Adrian's constant soloing) and Empire Of The Clouds (spectacular instrumental).

For vocals only: Out Of The Silent Planet and Powerslave.
For guitars only: Ghost Of The Navigator and Infinite Dreams.
For bass only: To Tame A Land and Death Of The Celts.
For drums only: Caught Somewhere In Time and Where Eagles Dare... plus Hallowed live 2003 (Death On The Road).

:)

Thanks to the magic of AI, CSiT isolated drums actually are a thing that exists on YouTube. Never did I ever think that this day would come since I always assumed being able to do this level of isolation to a mixed, mastered stereo track would just straight-up be impossible, but here it is. The cymbals are the only thing that outright sounds a bit weird, which is just crazy considering how this track was sourced.

When iplay guitar at my lesuire at home i tend to play along to a Maiden cd and try and replicate a certain guitarists part (usually Adrians). There are backinh tracks online ie drums and bass with all guitar parts taken out, for us guitar players to play along to but you cant play 2-3 guitar parts on one guitar lol.

So not neceserally an isolated track, more removing Adrains guitar and just leaving Daves and Jans.

A purely selfish request from a budding guitarist.

What an absolute BEAST of a drum track. No wonder CSiT has been a top-10 IM song for me since practically the first time I heard it.

Nicko goes from a swing/jazz feel in the intro to a kinda-sorta and vaguely "speed/thrash" metal feel (during the fast bits), but all the while manages to never once sound mechanical or like a jackhammer (as many modern metal drummers seem to).

He keeps a swing, groove, and an undeniable *pulse* throughout.

Tracks like these should only serve to augment and cement Nicko's legacy among the greats (I feel that Maiden's fantastic vocals, guitar lines, and bass lines have likely led Nicko to be a tad bit underrated in the drum and music critics communities)

I enjoyed the hell out of that however I am very biased, Caught Somewhere in Time is the song that first made me an Iron Maiden fan.

It might not be my overall favorite song by the band - though it's certainly top 5 - however to this day it's my favorite song on my favorite IM album.

I agree. I wouldn't say that Nicko is a tad bit underrated, I think he has a lot of respect and recognition in the ''Drum world'' and metal in general. But I guess most fans polls/magazines/music reviewers prefer thrash metal drummers or drummers from the 70's (which is understandable for the latter). No one can have the ''feel'' in Nicko's playing!

Some curious and great quotes about his style:
Adrian: ''He always had the chops and the technique, but in Maiden he really exploded, to the point where a lot of stuff we did after he joined was then founded on his playing, all those busy patterns he does, displaying tremendous technique''.

"Where Eagles Dare" famously displays McBrain's ability to use the single drum pedal very quickly, plus his rapid tom fills.

He is often considered among the best and most influential heavy metal/hard rock drummers of all time. Steve Gadd, McBrain's then drum technician, comments that, on the World Slavery Tour some drummers would refer to McBrain as an 'octopus' after witnessing the way in which his stamina gives him the ability to use all of his large signature drum kit in concert.

Steve: ''He can play all kinds of music... drummers from other bands sit round the back of him to see what he's doing, but he's got his kit set so he doesn't even look at what he's hitting half the time''.

Update:
So, I did some first steps with the software and I managed to isolate the guitars from The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner.
Nice!
I'll upload it on YT tomorrow or so and will give you the link when done.
Cheers,
Dick

P.S.: The more I'll be getting into the tool I hope to even improve the sound quality, so forgive me if TLOTLDR is somewhat average yet, it'll take some time to get into it all. But all in all it works - and that's good news so far. :)

I'm trying to upload the first one to YT but it's doesn't work yet. Any advice? The format is MOV, and I also tried it as MPEG before. "An error occurred". I never uploaded anything to YT, so help would be nice. Thank you.

Again, some help would be cool. I somehow suspect some automatic copyright control. Any idea how to solve that problem anybody?

Probably not copyright, probably something format related. It usually only tells you about copyright after you've uploaded it. Can you try other formats?
