Book and Music Pairings

I’ve found that some books and albums pair well together just like food and wine. This doesn’t necessarily correlate to songs that allude to literature (ie. Reading Coleridge whilst listening to RotAM).

Some I recommend are:

Pink Floyd: Animals or Dark Side of the Moon with anything by George Orwell.

Any Simon and Garfunkle best of with the novel “The Catcher in the Rye”

Iron Maiden: “Somewhere in Time” with anything by HG Wells, the novel “Forever War,” the PKD short story “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.”

Tool: “Undertow” with Nietzsche’s “Thus Spake Zarathustra”

Black Sabbath: Eponymous 1st album with Cooper’s “The Last of the Mohicans”

I can't really listen to music while reading, so dunno.
Either one or the other for me as well.
But I remember reading Fog on the Barrow-downs (chapter 8 of The Lord of the Rings) while listening to King Diamond's The Eye, and they complemented each other well.

Celestite by Wolves in the Throne Room went quite well with I Remember You by Yrsa Sigurdardóttir, otherwise I do sometimes listen to music that fits the theme while reading, but I can't really say it enhances my experience in any way.

Often times when I listen to Somewhere in Time, I will read the Somewhere in Time lyrics book. Funny enough, the words match sometimes!
