Why only 5 new songs?

Why only 5 new songs?

Well, now when I think about it, I could just leave Running Free or some other oldie out and add 6th new song. Then again, 5-6 songs has been pretty standard, so it's not terribly off. But yeah, something like this might be plausible too:

The selection of not-obvious classics is an interesting one. If and when Bruce will be doing most of the setlist picks for the next album tour too, I suppose at least one or two choices depend on the overall aestethic and thematic feel of the album #17 and the stage show that follows. I mean, if TBOS and TFF releases switched places, I doubt that Powerslave would have been part of the 2016-17 set. Bruce really seems to like taking full advantage of the theatrical frames the stage set gives them, not just as a stage but also as a setting that really incorporates with (some or most of the) songs they play. The dramatic, theatrical edge has always been there, but it has been especially prominent with most recent tours (pretty much right after TFF 2011) and especially with TBOS and the current tour (this is not a spoiler, is it? :D ).

This actually wouldn’t work to badly as a closer. Those who dislike it can leave, everyone else can, to borrow a phrase, “rock the fuck out”.

I still like the idea of it being played as a closer with every band member singing the chorus at least once. :D

More seriously though, it would really work well enough, at least if the band didn't take themselves too seriously during the last chorus repeat bunch. You don't even need to extend it, there's enough sing-along opportunities for crowd as it is. :D
