Songs considered a "filler" track you actually do enjoy?

Also all of Virtual XI.

Unpopular opinion: Almost the entirety of Killers would count as a filler for me. Which makes kinda sense, since for the first two albums Steve chose most of what he considered to be their best material, leaving Fillers with some literal leftovers. Doesn't help that many songs are blatantly unfinished and consist of the same verse repeated 3 times and nothing else.

What, there's a secret, almost completely unknown album between IM and Killers?

:D

I love the so called fillers, it’s the depth of the maiden catalogue that ultimately drew me to the band in the first place. Lots of bands have good songs or hits, few have this much depth over so many albums,

THIS.

My cousin recently wanted me to help him getting deeper into Maiden, we went together to the show in Hannover, which was his 1st Maiden show (and my 57th), and in all this his context he was super surprised when I explained to him he would never ever make it only anywhere near to the soul of Iron Maiden if he wouldn't take a closer look BEYOND stuff like RTTH, FOTD, CIPWM etc.

Harris & Dickinson surveying this or basically any thread preparing setlist for 2028:

"*Sigh* If only we could play them... anyway, so we have Wrathchild *check* Run To The Hills *aha* Wasted Years *Yep* Fear of the Dark *oh absolutely, come to papa you sunshine*

I also like Tears of a Clown. It's a good, fully realized song - not an unfinished one.

I also rate From Here to Eternity a solid 10/10. It's an attitude-driven, gloriously poseur rocker, and I mean that in the best possible way.

Virtual XI is such a horrendously flawed album

Angel and the Gambler being that long and plain ridiculous

Don't Look to the eyes of a stranger being completely terrible

Most of it sounded like rushed demos rather than fully formed songs

Bad production

But I still enjoy a lot of it a great deal and it's all very fun live. Blazes live versions are even better.

Futureal is the best short song Maiden have done since 1998 apart from The Wicker Man

The Clasnman rules obviously

Como Estais Amigos is a really nice ballad

And despite their flaws, I still like Two Worlds, Lightning, Educated Fool etc

Something about the vibe of the album places it above the two Bruce 90s Maiden albums for me

How the hell did Wratchild not make it onto the debut?

Even though there are some songs that I don't like at all (especially from the 80s), I don't think IM has ever recorded a song just to fill the gap on a record. This is not how IM (or Steve Harris in particular) works. As far as I know, they always had more than enough material to work on, and they chose what sounded best at the time. A song not released as a single or not played live does not make it a filler. A song that sounds great on record may not work well on stage or may be very hard to sing/play live.

While I agree with all this it would render this thread obsolete and it's quite nice to have some chat that isn't about hairlines
