RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

Yes,is weird that it has happened before.,he struggles with the start.

Simon sounds great here.
He simplifies the verses like a drum machine. After seeing Paris' videos, my faith got lit up again, but Simon keeps proving that he would have been a great replacement for Charlie Watts, who always played within a milisecond of delay behind the band. The problem is The Rolling Stones' sound was built like that, while Maiden's was built like this (2016, Nicko was just about Simon's age):

Because it’s

1. Late in the gig
2. Difficult to sing
3. No band to back him either, only vocals. Nowhere to "hide"

There are 3 songs I would do changes to or replace on this tour

1. The Trooper - downtune
2. Hallowed - downtune
3. Aces High - replace

Ok,its late at the gig,but he struggles with the words not with the high notes. Btw nothing as bad as blaze. Just curious that this happen now ihavent seen him doing this in any tour.

What seems to be the issue with Simon? I haven't watched any clips of this leg.
Well, according to various comments on the internet:

- He's too fast
- He's too slow
- He drags the songs instead of keeping up with Steve
- He hits too weak
- He bashes the drums
- He lacks technique
- He lacks dynamics
- He's not Nicko
- He has no groove
- He's a pub drummer

Take your pick.

I see the complaints are consistent then.

He sounds harder, shorter and fatter than nicko. Thats my view, which doesnt mean he is not a bad drummer. Nicko was better? For sure. Thats all, there is videos of him playing heavier stuff.

So far, it seems like Simon can truly check all those boxes in one tour; maybe even in one show?

Again, I really hope he improves. But right now he ain't adding anything besides getting the band through the setlist like they are rolling through hills —not running to them.

On the other hand, the one cool thing about the Simon Case is that it confirms how Steve is only in it for the music and the live experience. He'd rather play with a friend than recruit a megapro that can copy Nicko to the letter —would that be possible?—. Although I think Maiden have never sounded this deflated, I like that about Steve. Guess I should head to the pub?

But I think when the band took to try another drummer in that reunion and Steve said I have Simon and the band… mm ok ohh he's like Clive... ok let's go. Instead to try a couple of pro drummers and the next day of <Nicko's retirement announce the new one:bad decision

Serious bit: I would say his drumming lacks the flow that Nicko’s drumming had pre-stroke, struggling to capture the feel of Maiden’s proggier side. At the same time, one could argue that he does not nail Clive’s drum parts either (being asked to start the show with Murders in the rue Morgue probably doesn’t help).

Tongue-in-cheek bit: I would imagine he had to provide the contact details of two people who could give a reference when he applied for the job, as is usually the case here in the UK. Steve was surely one of them, but who was the other one??

Joking aside, he is a competent drummer doing a reasonable enough good job in a legendary band and, to be fair, the singer is struggling with some of those songs more than him.

I also think he was not the correct choice. But yeah, it kinda proves that in Steve's heart this is the same band that played The Cart & Horses —a pub!–. They lost one of the best drummers in the world... Steve: "No worries, fellas, I'll bring my mate".

And for sure he has less % of the earnings than nicko. And thats another reason too. But thats what they have decided. Im comfortable with that, better than blaze years. That years as much i love blaze and love the records ( now) but watching them live was really bad.
Now close your eyes and imagine those gigs without any songs from The X Factor or Virtual XI...
