RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

Hello, chaps!

I'm an avid forum reader who has felt the urge to actually register, moved by how surprising I find that almost everyone is trashing Bruce for "ruining" «Aces High» while basically accepting that Simon —who is not Clive Burr and is making the band sound more tired than ever— is doing an excellent job.

What a load of bs.
They haven't been this energized since LOTB 2018. They're playing faster, tighter, and the overall energy is insane.
And I don't think that's even debatable, just look up the Sweden Rock video. If you think that's "tired," then you should've called it a day with Maiden a long time ago.

As i said before their first part of the show impress me because i didnt expect that level of energy and fun from them and the crowd. I felt bruce was tired on the second part of the show but like saving energy,we know him well when he talks a phrase to reach the chours and sing it properly or detune some parts like in hallowed to reach the others that needs to be high. Apart from aces that is a different situation im not including aces in my point of view. But i saw the band having fun and i dont see why people is bashing like this simon. I didnt felt he was a disaster a good drummer thats all. Not a first level drumner but he plays the songs right. And i said before they have been there for our whole live, 50 years. Some day they will finish and as they said is closer,so enjoy. I hope we have 2 more tours i dont expect a new album, but 2 more tours to play the songs they want to play again

Bruce: "We'll see you again... maybe in a couple of years time".

You can explain the contradictions: Other cities might indeed see them again sooner, but Iron Maiden will never play a show in Nürburg - unless they’re booked for Rock am Ring.
And that most likely won’t happen again for a few years.

I'm watching videos from the first stop of the Rush tour and thinking about what could've been if Maiden had hired a young professional to replace Nicko instead of one of Steve's drinking buddies from down the pub.
I hate dragging Simon like that, but I agree. The contrast between how the two bands handled finding a new drummer and the final results is night and day. Plus, Anika has probably had to deal with a lot more scrutiny stepping in front of a heavily male-dominated crowd packed with hyper-critical drummers.

(irony mode: on)

I strongly disagree. And I think is totally debatable. Their Madrid gig from this same tour is the worst I've seen them play. Simon was below average. Nobody was flying, which is something Nicko could do: lift the band from the ground and make them FLY. Thankfully, Bruce saved the day in the end, carrying the band with all his might. The energy was incomparable to any of the 11 tours I've attended since Virtual XI (included). Sweden Rock was dull.

Right on. "Not a first level drumner but he plays the songs right" is not good enough, and it never was, for Maiden.
I truly wish that he gets better overtime.

Hadn't seen him live yet but from the videos I've seen Simon is doing just fine. Steve has played with him for years and has a chemistry with him. Not sure why some have a problem with that. I think the criticism still mostly boils down to "he's not Nicko." But what do I know, I'm just a pub drummer.
