So the album cover is the the tour poster?? A great one, I must say. And different themes for them, which is nice.

The 2 singles at once(!), what to say. Generic Sabaton, but that's their style. It's not easy to produce interesting music, especially with a certain style. ''The Duelist'' is fun, cool riff, interesting pre-chorus. ''Lightning At The Gates'' has a typical for them harmonic memorable riff (great) and we've heard that chorus many times before, but overall the song is effective. Music to enjoy.

The production is very good.

The generic Sabaton sound is starting to really get to me at this point. Two albums of it was enough, and it was already starting to grate by the end of Heroes, but we're now five albums into the same thing over and over again.

The new single is feat. another band. ''Crossing The Rubicon'' sounds fun (riffs and chorus), but really by-the-numbers (unique style, though), probably more than the other singles.

The new album is, well, generic Sabaton. I don't think it's stronger than the previous one. Some interesting and cool stuff, ofc - and solos(!).

Best songs: ''Templars'', ''Hordes Of Khan'', ''Maid Of Steel'' (first 2 albums style), ''Lightning At The Gates''.
more: cool drumming and instrumental section for ''A Tiger Among Dragons'', interesting vocal approach in ''I, Emperor'', cool riffing for ''Impaler'', ''The Duelist'' is fun, ''The Cycle Of Songs'' has interesting music.

I like how they use arts for all songs videos.

I actually enjoyed my first listen much more than I expected!

The first two songs are self-plagiarism to a hilarious degree, but after that it’s better. A Tiger Among Dragons, Crossing the Rubicon, Impaler and The Cycle of Songs stuck out the most to me.

A lot of self-'inspiration' as others have mentioned but all in all the new album is an enjoyable listen, not many tracks on there would make my greatest hits of Sabaton but it mostly maintains a 7-8/10 level and the switch up in theme after the back to back WW1 albums is also welcome.

I'd stopped listening to them when they got stuck in the WWI rut. Quite enjoying the new stuff. I Emperor brings Carolus Rex to mind, which is fine by me as my favourite Sabaton album

Very much agreed. I also get Winged Hussars vibes from Crossing the Rubicon, and Impaler sounds like something off of Primo or Attero.

Sabaton self-plagiarizes a lot, but in these instances it actually doesn’t bother me.

The stage set for the new tour is great. Check out the videos too. Props power! No backdrops (or big screen?), just one temple! It looks really cool. It's a big production with lots of pyro. Idk why Maiden haven't tried such style and shape, along with the screen in the back. It would be a fitting next step.

Seeing them next Thursday. This time at the indoor arena now renamed Unity Arena, which isn't exactly known for great sound, so not ideal. Last time I saw them was at Oslo Spektrum which is a smaller arena (around 6000, Maiden played there on the Early Days tour). That place has much better sound.

Venue aside, looking forward to it as Sabaton live is always great fun

The show at London was great, cheesy, ridiculous and brilliant in equal measure. I am now very interested to see what reception the historical figures got in different countries, safe to say Napoleon seems to have been better received in France than he was in Britain.

Sabaton probably could have remained in there. Probably didn't sell more than that for tonight unfortunately. Lots of empty seats, still GA left and over half of the venue was restricted.

Also, the Legends stuff with the speeches and all meant the show never really got going. Felt like there was a 3-4 minute break after every song or two.

Having a orchestra warm up with Sabaton songs is also an interesting choice. They were ok. I liked the girls who fronted the orchestra.

But all in all, Sabaton were excellent at their best and I wish they would just cut the crap.

You'r probably right, the number 6000 was just something I had in the back of my memory from a long time back. And yes, although I think there were more than 8-9000 there yesterday it wasn't full.

Agree about those "legends", they could've cut it down a bit, it took away the momentum. And although I thought the orchestra was cool, letting them nick the staple opener ...? Seeing Sabaton finally come on stage and not playing Ghost Division first?

The band was great at times, but I feel the sound in that arena let them down at times, with some of the live sound not really cutting through the recorded keyboard/choir tracks it became muddy from where we were sitting.

So next time in Spektrum again, please?
