Helloween & Gamma Ray

AOR-influenced stuff, but at the same faster power metal than the previous one. Since the 90's, they sometimes combine like AOR sound in some songs. The cover really matches the songs vibes, themes and titles. I like the colors a lot.

Lotf 2 and eotu are ok but far from the 3 first albums with him on vocals. And in those albums there are a lot of parts that sounds to to other bands sometimes ecatly the same as other bands or other songs from gamma ray. I didnt listen to hansen and friends. But the 3 first albums are 10/10. And as we see in the last 2 helloween albums he can do it. Maybe his songs are the best. I feel that weikath has stepped back on the writting.

About the sound im not sure if is the same producer that produce blind guardian iron savior and many other. Charles i cant remember de surname. At least those 2 albums the sound is clear but i dont like how all those albums sound.

Third listen to the album and still thinking is faster than the previous one with parts of aor. The chorus in some song are a bit soft for old powermetal. I would love to see hansen and deris go high with the notes. Kiske does it in one song. And kai's songs sounds in parts to gamma ray,he sings so well too. I miss more fast weikath songs
 

It seems the album has 4 bonus songs: well, 3 versions of the ballad Into The Sun (one with only Andi on vocals, and it's great), one is acoustic - the real bonus song is ''Out Of Control''. With Kai on lead vocals only and I think it is written by Markus. Great job. :ok:

How is this a bonus song? It's a really good short rocker. Much better than Tokyo or Moonlight. It sounds pure Gamma Ray and has a modern Priest vibe. What a memorable, catchy and melodic chorus (with a gallop). It doesn't sound generic imo. Overall Kai's vocals are solid. Ripping solos and a cool melody. The calm part after them sounds quite nice, but probably wasn't that necessary. We needed a song with only Kai on vocals in the album!

Man, I like this album more and more with every listen. Add this song to it and it's almost perfect! One of my favorite albums, for sure.

I listened to land of the free 2. In the first or second song there is a part of heaven can wait the sing along part? And this one is like out of the shadows. Dont know who write before. But its a copy or at least a part. There is a guy who compilated all the "tributes"

Anyway, here's a list of some of the 'ripped off' parts I noticed:

-'To Mother Earth' at 0:36 and 'How Many Tears' from Helloween at 0:47.

-'When The World' at 2:23 and 'The Longest Day' from Iron Maiden at 1:33.

-'When The World' again at 0:00 and 'Flash Of The Blade' from Iron Maiden at 0:00. Ok, its not really similar, but it starts exactly the same way with the same exact drumming and etc... and even the first verse starts a bit in a similar way!

-'When The World' AGAIN at 4:40 and 'The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner' from Iron Maiden at 3:25.

-'Opportunity' at 3:32 and 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner' from Iron Maiden at 7:41.

-'Opportunity' again at 4:19 and The Clairvoyant from Iron Maiden at 0:38 (That's the most obvious one).

-'Insurrection' at 0:19 and 'Out Of The Shadows' from Iron Maiden at 0:46.

-'Insurrection' again at 0:50 and 'Second Love' from Pain Of Salvation at 0:44.

-'Insurrection' again at 7:03 and 'Exciter' from Judas Priest at 3:36.

-'Insurrection' again at 1:15 and some part from a Gamma Ray song I can't remember for now, but I'm sure about it.

-'Empress' at 3:42 and 'Balls To The Wall' from Accept at 3:28.

-The beginning of 'Real World' and the beginning of 'I Want Out' from Helloween are structurally similar.

-'Real World' at 4:15 and 'The Sentinel' from Judas Priest at 3:11. (Musically and lyrically)
