RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Damn the 2nd half of the song is sloooooow.
And it sounds not good at all. Idk, maybe Simon's stamina for long tours is not there, although it's not every night and for every song, plus the next part of the song is faster,so. There are more such comments in Youtube, which is not good. I can understand Bruce for some tougher songs, but Adrian and the rest. I just don't think album tempos are right for some songs live. What would happen in a potential new album, more mid-tempo than the latest one...

I imagine there were fuckups in the 80s as well, just nobody had smart phones back then to document them all.

Agreed,
A Fu..up or two is all part of performing live anyway isn`t it, they are only human and these aren`t straight forward songs. They have been rare on this tour so far.
Nicko messed up NOTB the other night.

I'm going through (most) of the known bootlegs that we have access to. Currently at the World Slavery Tour (Three more bootlegs left!) and yeah, the amount of fuck ups was much worse at times in the past. Not only that, many of the mistakes were much worse than a bit of timing issues and there are instances where the entire song fell apart, like one where the final part of Hallowed failed miserably and parts got skipped. Edit: ah it was linked above my comment.

Maiden have always been a "feel over technical performance" kind of band. That's why their tempos used to be all over the place. Hell, even the studio performances are like that. Start counting the bpm on BNW's version of The Wicker Man and you see how the tempo keeps increasing up to the first chorus.

People are putting Simon on an impossible pedestal. They are judging him by standards that are more fitting to a band like Dream Theater than Maiden, and standards which neither Clive nor Nicko could ever fulfill. It feels like certain sections of the fandom have made up their minds, don't care at all about the actual details and facts and just want to attack the new guy for not being Nicko.

Like, given Simon's performance and recording history I can guarantee that the slower tempo for Rime is not due to him running out of stamina; it's what the band decided on (don't forget that the animations would be completely out of sync otherwise, if he were to drag too much unexpectedly).

Seriously folks, chill for a minute, hakuna your tatas and let the new guy adjust to a needlessly hostile (and unreasonable) fanbase, alright?

Indeed. Simon is the new guy. He is only doing what the band is telling him to do.

Nick even limited plays at decent tempos still. I don't think it's on Simon, I think it's very much Adrian and the rest probably insisting on certain tempos

Yeah, I mean Simon sure has a few hiccups every now and then and might have occasional challenges at keeping up with all the tempo changes, but it's notable how every single mistake or tempo-related complaint regarding their pertormance is often pointed out as Simon's fault, although he probably doesn't have quite as much say on these things as Steve, for example.

E.g when most of the issues in the first Stockholm gig were more on the sound & monitoring side of things and even Steve messed up a bit, it was Simon who got a lot of dirt.

Then again, what do I even expect when reading Facebook & YouTube comments...
