RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Kinda tour-related; Nicko performed "Infinite Dreams" and "The Parchment" with Titanium Tart yesterday, so they absolutely COULD have been played with Maiden ("Dreams," obviously not "The Parchment" on this tour).

Didn’t Steve once complain to Nicko about debuting live songs that Maiden haven’t played live themselves?

Wonder how he feels about The Parchment?

I get the feeling the only thing he's going to be upset about is Nicko poking fun at his overlong arrangement and the band shortening it significantly!
I only listened half way, but Janicks second solo was gone and parts of Dave's? And a completely different lyrics.

Cool, thank you so much! :-)
And in case you have some detailed description or tab with Adrians exact right hand (the flow of UPstrokes and DOWNstrokes here!!) he plays the main riff of 2MTM , you are the man of the decade!!:notworthy:
Bremen on Tuesday, I stood there and thought again: "H, tell me! :notworthy: WTF are you doing there!"... I mean, it's so special the way he plays it, so unique. He kinda always places an upstroke right there where actually a down would be plausible and sometimes the other way round. All with such a smooth flow (will call him Adrian Smooth from now on  ). I'm pretty sure you know what I mean. It's a big mystery for me for years yet how he plays exactly. He seems NOT to begin with an upstroke so it seems. But is he entering the riff somewhat between the bar, or kicking in to the offbeat? :wtf:
This is a topic I've always been interested in - H's rhythmic variation on certain riffs. Wicker Man is the same.

2 Minutes original version on the record is pretty much all down-strokes, mainly sticking to the A and D strings, only really extending to a full power chord vibrato on the 'D-C-D 5ths' end of each 'round' of the riff. But since H was 'allowed' to begin the song post reunion (as in, Janick started the song up until 2007...) he has begun to include up-strokes on the C5 and D5 chords which occur (if you count every 'stroke') on 3, 6, 9 and 12th 'stroke' of the riff - sorry  hard to explain - which I think gives it way more character and vibe. En vivo live recording really highlights this, if you watch the live video especially in the intro where it shows H playing.

H's rhythm is one of the hardest things to nail I think in terms of playing style - You look up any cover of 2MTM on Youtube and I guarantee they won't play that riff properly.. The vibrato of the 5th chords and the slight variation on the palm muting. It's both very simple and very complex at the same time.

Really just drives home how fucking sick Adrian Smith is at playing

Yeah, and I guess that was a joke, Nicko likes long songs. It was funny him saying that Steve's songs usually have too many solos, 12 minutes worth... btw, he was generally making comments about the drum kits, feel and tempo, unintentionally or not. Steve and I guess Bruce didn't want to make any compromises with the performances.

Given it's arrangement and the lack of a chorus, I think Parchment could have been just 1 minute shorter in instrumental, no more.

They should have played all parts.
But Nicko did say it is his favorite song from Senjutsu, mine as well!
He also played his second favorite song from it.
I mean, yea, to me it seems really clear that this was specifically about Steve not wanting Nicko to play Alexander the Great with a solo band when it was in the cards for Maiden.
I'm really curious what changed to make Maiden decide to finally play it when they did. In retrospect it feels like something that was inevitable, but there were also so many opportunities to do it that they passed up. I would also be curious if anybody knows about band members strongly hinting at them playing Alex live prior to 2020, because it seems like something about the pandemic break changed things. I know Bruce said "one day we'll play it" on a book tour date or something, but I think even that was after 2020 if I'm remembering right.
It was for Hell On Earth too. About Alexander, I think the fans desire over the years and finally making justice to the SIT album were the reasons. And what other ideas (from the ones they are willing to do) are left. Plus properly touring a new album 2 years later.

Black Lado is back for the start of the show for Murders, Wrathchild and Phantom. 2MTM was played again on the 2016 Green Sunburst Jacko.

Edit: Rime was done with black Lado too. Is it possible that the black Lado finally overtook The Silver Lady in preference?

Totally agree with you on this. When I even saw Dave play, man he’s still got it. When I saw his solo on trooper, got the hair standing on my neck. Not a slip, not a screw up but just sheer smoothness. Have also come to love H’s solo on Rime. Feel his tapping should’ve also been there on the original studio version.

They knew they will not be playing in Greece on the tour?
