Was the album "Brave New World" like "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" part II?

Does "Brave New World" seem like a musical and stylistic continuation of "7th son" and its spiritual successor or not? Do you find these two albums pretty similar?

I don't think anything else needs to be said. It's got plenty of VXI's flaws but at least doesn't sound nigh-on unlistenably bad, the repetition isn't as insane as it was on the previous record and it has a literal modern classic of a lead single. And one song where the only memorable section was actually plagiarized but let's not talk about that.

Now that you bring it up, despite being different albums, I do think BNW (style, approach) could have been a continuation to say of SSOASS - but only with 3 guitars. And despite the guitar work being more adventurous in '88. It's ofc the VXI-DOD sound of the band (TXF is different, AMOLAD is its continuation, TFF is the next step, TBOS brings more of the old classic sound mixed with Reunion style, and SJ is the combination of the whole Reunion era), but with Adrian in the band, yeah, although not with his early 90's preferences, more like AOB era. Btw, some ideas from NPFTD could have been on SSOASS, while TXF could have been a next step of it. I really wished they continued the sound of SIT-SSOASS for one more album, I really do.

BNW shares the same DNA as VXI (which makes sense considering almost half of it are leftovers from VXI, including lyrics by Blaze on Dream of Mirrors), just with better production and performances.

The guitar work was very stripped down on Brave New World, with many simplistic riffs. Same about the drum beats. I wouldn't say that about 7th son.

Not at all, and I really don't understand how you get to such a thesis. They sound very different. SSOASS was the next logical step after SIT. They stopped that style right there and never continued with it.

In what sense? Neither theme nor music wise any similarities are there. Now you may speak of the lyrics "you watch the world exploding every single night" from The Wicker Man in your defense, to put it as the return of 'The Clairvoyant' from the Seventh Son saga but even that would be a stretch.

For me the only striking similarity is that both have blue coloured album covers.

The only thing they are similar with, is that Bruce sings very safe, soft production and the solos are safe sounding, and both are not really ground breaking. Both sound like a continuation of their predecessor.

Coincidentally, both these albums were my first Maiden albums!

If i have to compare seventh son with another iron maiden album that would be "the x factor". But the first one is pure brightness and the second one is pure darkness,depression and sadness but great melodies in both and some cool pasagges

In wich one he sings very safe ? In bnw? When blood brothers was out that wasnt very maiden. Thin line its not very maiden. Agree that he doesnt sing like chemical wedding. But still a superb performance on that alvum

I don’t think they tie together closely thematically or stylistically.

SSoaSS: concept album about someone born with second sight, with elements of the occult.

Musically: continues in the direction SIT was going in.

BNW: while not 100% about the Aldous Huxley book with the same title, deals with themes of dystopian futures.

Musically: starts a new direction post-reunion.

But everyone has their own interpretations and, if you find correlations that I don’t, then that’s all to the good.
