RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Re "POTO" in Stockholm, wow what a massive FUBAR that was. Sounded to me that Davey started off his solo early, then Adrian usually takes the second solo but didn't; Janick does instead, again early but this time a whole section. At that point the song fell apart before they got it back together as Bruce says "There we go."

I can't tell who eff'ed that up but sounded to me that it happened during the solo section. I didn't hear Simon make a mistake that lead to it but maybe he did and it threw everyone off. Regardless, yeah that's one that they'll have a conversation about I'm sure. It doesn't happen often but when it does...yikes.

Hasn't Janick been playing the second solo on Phantom of the Opera the whole tour?

Adrian hasn't played the Phantom solo once since the reunion. Always Jan.

Phantom was Simon's brainfart. Went to the last verse groove too early. Solos were fine. Could have been also a misunderstanding. Janick, Steve and Adrian were all at Simon before the trainwreck happened. Somebody might have said something that made Simon think that he fucked up.

Meanwhile, Dave was just vibing on stage right while the others tried to save the drowning ship. BTW it's always Stockholm. Last time Nicko's pedal broke and that resulted in an interesting version of Sign Of The Cross.

You're right; brain fart on my end. Just went back and listened to Budapest where they nailed it for comparison; something was off as they transitioned from the solo section back to the harmony part before the time change.

To me it sounds like Steve started playing the 12/8 riff too early, while everyone else continued with the earlier groove. Simon noticed and adjusted, so Simon and Steve were playing the same, while the guitars kept doing their own thing. Then one by one the guitarists adapted and played the 12/8 riff as well, but by that point it was already a disaster.

Here's Aces High, because I know you all cannot get enough of the song on this tour:

Sound is pretty shit but it seems that Bruce did a better job than on previous gigs. He was avoiding the trickiest bits on the chorus by changing the melodies though.
They should just replace it with Transylvania

I only sing in a hobby choir, but I think a professional singer would have to try out in ears extensively, practise with them. And there would have been enough time before the tour.
There is not much time now and before his next solo tour.
Although maybe he just doesn't want to try it out anyway...

Wow, the ending of POTO is indeed a mess. Seems like totally new arrangement.
What about Seventh Son..is there good recording pointing out what went wrong with it?
Hopefully, after seeing and hearing clips from the previous shows, the issue will most likely be identified as a technical problem.

I'm surprised how similar the fuck-up in Phantom was to the '84 Hallowed one linked earlier. We sure they haven't been doing taste testing on new Trooper flavors before the gig or something?
Admittedly, I’m not as familiar with tempos and musical knowledge as many here (like I have no idea was 12/8 is lol) but could you give me a time specific for the Hallowed that’s linked?

It sounds fast to me, and when I listened to the POTO that was linked I could tell ‘it didn’t sound right’ but then someone mentioned the time and I listened more closely and it helped me better understand the mess up.

With all that said, I would say that’s a whoopsie in my book and not the train wreck others said it was.

Just shows how subjective it all is, the bands abilities and experience all play into it, but also the knowledge of the listener.

Heard a clearer upload of it; it was Steve. Simon tried to adjust and go into the same section Steve was playing, the guitars were lost for a moment. But that's not on Simon. That was all on Steve.
Yeah. Listening to it, it seems like Steve fucked up and Simon simply followed.

BTW, black Lado is now played on Powerslave and Rime.
