Me heart says Nicko
But my mind says Simon,
Would love to have it with Nicko on a track as a feature/tribute to his legacy though, but I know Maiden are unlikely to do that.. maybe? Nicko as 'consultant' haha

Realistically I think they'll do it with Simon, if they do another record.

I'll always say Nicko. But I'm not sure he would be able to do it justice. Maybe on 1 song, I doubt it. And the band seems to enjoy and believe in playing with Simon. I guess Simon can change their style in the studio (right), and it's curious, but more straightforward playing from both wouldn't be so cool.

If they plan to perform it live, definitely Simon.

Not giving Simon some creative input would be showing a lack of confidence in him. It's time to move on.
Realistically, we should expect Simon, but he's been announced as a live drummer (for now), so where's the lack of confidence? It's probably time to move on and he's the solid choice, but Bruce said Nicko is still part of the band. Rod's statement was more ambiguous.

Even though I'm not much interested in Maiden without Nicko (and I never was - I put on the first three albums only very rarely), studio or otherwise, I have to say they should record with Simon if there is another studio album to be done. Nicko's skills have deteriorated too much and while I get the "legacy member" aspect, I also don't want them to, I don't know, pull together these Frankensteins from hundreds of takes or doctor the performance with AI or something.
They've picked the bloke, they should stand behind that choice.

This 100%.

Nicko to write the drum parts, Simon to play them.
That's a good option. But Nicko to write the drum parts would probably never happen if he won't play. The situation is different than Glenn's. And it's not right to Simon. I would like more fast songs, I admit.
Honestly, it has to be Simon. Maybe Nicko contributes in a song or two or maybe he co-writes a song.
Nicko should definitely co-write a song.

Why do so many here point out the "IF" about a new record? I have no doubt there will be one. Why wouldn't it.
"ere Steve, you reckon we should maybe.. you know, switch things up for this new album? Maybe get a new producer? Just a thought"

Steve pauses for a second, clears his throat, and then goes back to whistling the melody to his new epic whilst strumming his acoustic bass. The question of a new producer is never brought up again.

Simon, full stop. I'm not massively familiar with different drumming styles or techniques, but even I can hear that Simon isn't trying to copy Nicko, so why bring Nick in as a consultant, or to write the drum parts? Simon isn't Nicko, he's Simon. If he's gonna be on an album he should be allowed to do his thing 100%, just as Nicko himself did when he replaced Clive.

Simon.

As everyone else has said, Nicko just isn’t physically capable of playing to his high standards anymore because of the stroke. Which is especially awful because he was still incredible on LOTB ‘22 imo. I definitely think his career was cut a few years short.

I genuinely like Simon’s drumming with British Lion, so I’d like to hear what he’d do in the context of Maiden.
