RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

I'm going to say something controversial here, and Maiden is my favorite band of all time, but this tour feels so overhyped at the moment.

Bruce's "this is a setlist for the ages" and his promise of "doing stuff we've never done before". It all feels like a marketing stunt at this point.

Sure there was the big ass screen and sure they played Rime, 7th son, Powerslave, Killers and what not. But compared to the LotB tour this was nothing special at all. Especially after a massive tour like the Future Past Tour.

This feels so much like "okay let's throw in Rime and 7th son and people will lose their minds. They won't care for the rest". I'm sad and disappointed at the moment. I will still go and see them in Arnhem later this year but man. So many missed chances on here....
This is massively over hyped. The tools are there and there are some excellent moments - but a lot of this we have seen all before - why 2mtm in that slot, weird. Interesting lack of props too, not close to the legacy of the beast and 2005.

I wonder if he will jump back onto the Jacksons after a few gigs.. Personally I am stoked to see the Lados! Makes me wonder whether they've literally been locked up in the warehouse since the mid 80s, or whether H has had them at home to jam on but never got around to touring them again until now?
I'd be incredibly surprised if we didn't start seeing a lot more Jacksons as the tour progresses, seems like he was practically forcing himself to play the Lados instead of his usual guitars with how often he had them on.

It seems 17 songs is the most for the band.

Well... Moonchild, Running Free, Sanctuary and Afraid will remain unique to the ME tour. If only they did something different instead of it (like rare/90's cuts), this tour would have felt different. I hope it won't have a 3rd leg, even with some changes.

The big screen was fine, but I didn't like the POM Eddie, inflatables look a lot better. Also they didn't use many physical props and the ones they used were used on the Legacy tour, too, the only new one being the new Eddie. Imo the screen killed the magic in some songs and elevated others (Hallowed for example)

I do think this is going to be a winning setlist for next year, seems like the reactions on Twitter to even Seventh Son and similar are incredibly positive. Makes me also think the screen was a knowing choice to get more flexibility in the visuals and be able to get 90% of the same effect as they would with real props and inflatables, only much, much cheaper. But I do wonder how the show will look in broad daylight in the European summer in a stadium.

Objectively speaking, it's an amazing setlist for casual fans. Great selection of hits. For me the biggest thing about this show are the visuals - from what I've seen it looked really interesting and very well designed. Especially during Rime - it seemed to elevate the whole storytelling aspect by a lot. In terms of songs, my biggest surprise was Seventh Son. This and Rime in one setlist is a real treat.

I'm absolutely shocked about the lack of 90s material. I was 100% convinced they would at least play Be Quick or Be Dead, Bring Your Daughter and probably Afraid to Shoot Strangers. Too bad there's also no real deep cuts or live debuts - Only the Good Die Young would be amazing. And I also think Alexander should have stayed in. Would be perfect as the first encore track.

Let’s see:

Ides- great to see it again.
Murders - I’m very delighted to see this again
Wrathchild - can’t call it overplayed after an eight year absence, and I’m happy to see it (I’ve never seen it.)
Killers - Hell Yeah!
Phantom - see Killers, capitalised and bolded.
Beast - At least it’s out of the way early
Clairvoyant - I would love to see this one, but this could have been Infinite or Evil and I’d still be really happy.
Powerslave - It’s my favourite IM song and the staging is awesome.
Midnight - I don’t remember my first Maiden show, so I’m looking forward to seeing this properly.
Rime - Spank my ass and call me Susan, this rules!
Hills - Actually haven’t seen it myself, so I’m cool with it
Seventh - WHOOOOOO!
Trooper - This is predictable, but it’s good to see Simon give it a go. LOTB Eddie will be fun on the day.
Hallowed - Always a delight
Maiden - WTF is PoM Eddie doing here?

Aces - No, stop. Bruce is being tortured.
Fear - As much as it gets a groan seeing it on the list, it’s always fun.
Wasted - This was really cool as the encore for Book of Souls because it was unexpected. It was ok for TFP because it was kinda necessary. This time? It’s too far and without it going back to album pace, there’s nothing special about it. It’s now just the safe choice.

Quick personal opinions/reactions:

- Well, THAT was fun. But then again Maiden's my favorite band so I'm generally easy to please.

- Bruce lied but that's OK, I still love him.

- I think the video backdrop will be more impressive in person in terms of depth and environment. HBTN was utterly breathtaking incorporating the visuals with the song.

- Setlist wasn't exactly what I expected; I went with the assumption of more-or-less equal distribution of all nine albums. Set contained some bangers for sure, but some songs that should be retired IMHO.

- Weird pacing to the set. I wouldn't be surprised if they shuffled some songs around before settling in, although they probably won't. As with the second (third..?) leg of LOTB, I frankly wouldn't mind swapping out some tracks altogether. But I'm not complaining; it was never going to be a setlist for an OG like me.

- I want to phrase this very respectfully. Simon Dawson is more than just solid, he's very accomplished and did an admirable job with this being his first show before an audience. Seamless fit, 100% the right choice. OPINION TIME: DO NOT BE OFFENDED IF YOU DISAGREE. Listening to this first show demonstrated to me how much respect, grace and admiration the great Nicko McBrain deserves for coming back from his illness as well as he did. I'll leave it there.

- The band sounds as powerful as ever and I hope they soldier on for at least another album & tour. They're fucking great. And I loved the vintage vibe of bringing out some of the old guitars.

- Yes, I may nitpick but barring an obscenely absurd ticket price I'll still be there once they hit the US.

I don’t care that there is nothing from NPFTD. That record sucks my balls.
It's my least favorite Maiden album together with X Factor. But what bums me is that they advertise the tour with "songs from the first 9 albums" and completely skip over ond of those".

Would've been better if they changed that sentence to "songs from Maiden's 80's and 90's discography". That way people don't expect NPFTD as much.

Again, I don't like the album but seeing songs like Tailgunner, Bring Your Daughter or the title track live would definitely be cool!
