I personally would change ''Halcyon Days'' and ''Before The Winter'' with two songs from your honorable mentions list (''Hunting High And Low'' and ''Dragons''). ;)

I'm not a big fan of the pre-Kotipelto albums where the singer is Tolkki, but I haven't listened to them for many years.

In fact, this album Dreamspace [1994], If I recall right, I don't like it.

But there's one song from the first 3 albums which I like quite a lot - the song is called ''Lead Us Into The Light'' from Twilight Time [1992]. Great ballad
 
Being something of a Stratovarious noob, I'll check that out. I've always had very strong feelings towards the Dreamspace title track. It's an amazing power metal song. Also, Visions, Infinite, and Elements pt. 1 are AWESOME albums

Those are indeed awesome albums, but their latest two (Eternal and Nemesis) have been really really good too, especially Nemesis.

Visions is definitely their best album. Destiny is close second, Infinite is also a very good album (the album cover of that album was done by Derek Riggs!), and the two Elements albums, of course (Part. 1 is better).
